When my mother ran a cattery, we all had much experience in the wrap-the-cat-in-a-towel approach to popping pills or shots. 

It's pretty bad when your choice is between getting bit trying to give a cat a shot, or getting bit trying to wrap a cat up in a towel so you can give it a shot.

Handling parrots is pretty much the same thing. When it's time for a foot trim (their foot talons can get pretty damned sharp) or a wing trim, toweling usually results in blood loss either way.

One thing I just won't do, though, and that's a beak trim. I let the vet tech be the bad guy. Birds remember those things and it can be a deal breaker insofar as trust is concerned.
