U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords voted against Nancy Pelosi as leader of the House Democrats Wednesday.

<snip>

Grijalva could not be reached for immediate comment but a Giffords’ spokesman said Lewis serves as a “bright, guiding light” for Americans.

“The congresswoman’s vote for Rep. John Lewis signaled her desire for courageous leadership and high moral standards at a critical time in our nation’s history,” said Giffords’ spokesman, C.J. Karamargin. “He is one of our nation’s most prominent civil rights leaders and a hero to all Americans.”

List of Blue Dogs. Call Them And Say We Elected The Majority But Not Wolf's in Sheep's Clothing!

Edited on Thu Jul-30-09 01:30 AM by bkkyosemite
I am so angry at the Blue Dogs. The people of this Country elected the Majority as Democrats into office this year!!! We did not want Republicans dressed up like Democrats to deceivingly be in the mix to cause upset and not allow the Democrats to get things done. Ralm needs to be fired and I emailed Obama that comment.

The Blue Dogs do not want a strong Public Option in Heathcare and of course not HR 676 at all. They need to be called and told we don't like being decieved and they are gonna have trouble getting re-elected next time if we have anything to say about. This country voted for Change!!! And not republican values in someone who falsely calls themselves Democrats.

Pelosi is now trying to talk the liberal caucus into a watered down public option call her and Waxman too. I am so Angry!!!

Sorry don't have their numbers, if anyone can help appreciated. Thanks for listening or reading my rant.

12. So how many of these ran under AZ and ME public campaign financing rules?

Giffords, Gabrielle (AZ-08)
Michaud, Mike (ME-02)
Mitchell, Harry (AZ-05)

If they had run as publicly financed candidates, they should be investigated for "improper influences" by the lobbyists, as they shouldn't be allowed to get their money. And if they aren't publicly financed candidates, they should be targeted by some decent progressive folks with public campaign financing in 2010 elections.

We need to show how public campaign financing can shut down crap like this and make a BIG example of these folks here of how we might do with decent federal public campaign finance laws!

53. Darn, I just missed having Raul as my Rep

by 2 1/2 blocks.

Unfortunately I have the egregious, wishy-washy blue-dog Giffords to contend with.

Oh, well, it's a challenge...

Just what we all need, more challenges. Vietnam, Nixon, ray-gun, feinstein, bush I, clinton, bush II and now Obama's wishy-washy corporate sucking up...

Well, Raul is my REAL representative...that other woman won't hear us...so we'll have to get rid of her -- even if that means a repub...

They need to feel some pain...

Obviously this hateful, eliminationist rhetoric proves that ProudDad is actually Sarah Palin.

Here's a nice article from perennial DU favorite site, FireDogLake:

Do you suppose DU has a full timer just to handle DOJ / FBI requests?  Good find Sarge.

What a classy outfit they are.

Apart from ProudDad it's all pretty benign.

But then so was the Palin rip-off of the DKos poster.

However, we're not dealing in benign; the play of the day is to take innocuous statements and turn them into incitements to homicide.

Liberal Grassroots Attack Endangered Blue Dog

Representative Gabrielle Giffords Photo

Giffords’ district – one with a significant Republican lean – is currently rated as vulnerable by respected analyst Charlie Cook. For a Democrat in a conservative state, representing a Republican-leaning seat, it is important to stake out moderate stances on controversial issues. That’s particularly true on a hot-button issue such as immigration, which is obviously very important to Arizona voters this year.

That article quotes the following blog where some rather--shall we say--inflammatory statements are made:

Quote
Make you want to rally to Giffords' banner? Not so fast. Take a look at the new video Giffords is running in Tucson, a media market she shares with on Raúl Grijalva, chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, someone who has always supported her politically despite her very conservative stance on issues.

Giffords is looking like the point of the Blue Dog spear being thrust into the House progressive infrastructure. As we pointed out over the weekend, despite Pelosi's efforts to tamp it down, the Blue Dogs are going on the warpath against progressive Democrats, using Henry Waxman's interview with The Hill as an excuse. One thing we can always be sure of inside the Democratic Caucus-- well, two, actually: Blue Dogs will always put self-preservation above the party’s principles, and the DCCC will do whatever it can to help them get re-elected.

...

Giffords is emblematic of the tragic turn the House Democratic Party has taken. Over the weekend she launched a $350,000 ad buy in the Tucson media market that slams the principled stand Grijalva took against SB1070-- throwing him directly under the bus in order to make herself look sufficiently xenophobic for the bloodthirsty Know Nothing mobs...

...

Giffords’ attack on his stand and on everyone who joined him in fighting for what is right obfuscates her failure to exhibit meaningful leadership in this fight, and hurts those who did.

Raúl needs help fighting back, and Blue America is asking supporters to donate to the OneAmerica page so he has the funds necessary to defend himself.

Golly!

And of course huffPo's moderators always know how to see a silver lining:
