Here's what I said to a friend who asked if I thought President Obama wrote the speech himself
 "OF COURSE HE DID"

How do you know?

"I know it because whoever wrote it would be our President by now".

Well, I'm smiling. I think it's the best, most healing, most appropriate speech ever. I'm so grateful he was able to do it so perfectly, so heartfelt, so credibly. I saw a lot of immediate good coming from it, like a cloud filled with good vibes to envelop all who heard it.

As I listened there were times when I imagined what that speech could be like, if we had not elected this man to serve as our President.
And I cried a few tears in gratitude for our blessings.

I couldn't watch, did Mathews have a wet spot?

It seems just like yesterday where the bestest teleprompter reader in the history of mankind tingled the dude's leg with the speech about race.  Remember that all inspiring speech?  Me neither.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

I didn't hear the speech.  We were watching the show during dinner; suddenly I put my fork down, appetite lost.  The cheering, the whooping and whistling, the hooting and hollering....this is a memorial service?  My husband lost it when Napolitano took the podium among the adoring throng.  "What are they cheering this f****** c*** for?"   I switched it to whatever I could find on the DVR, American Dad I guess.

What was the Native American jazz about?  I don't believe one of the victims was NA, otherwise I could see it.

I imagined Christina sitting in the hand of God watching this spectacle, turning to look at Him and saying "Really?"

If you're at a funeral or memorial service and you don't know what to say or do....keep your mouth shut and do nothing...impossible, I know, for DUmmies.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

And to think Mira's vote counts just as much as that of any person with an IQ over 85, tsk, tsk.  Such is the Achilles' heel of democracy, I suppose.

ALL Presidents have paid speechwriters.  There's nothing wrong with it at all, and the challenges facing the writers of this one have been openly discussed on news programs all week.

Perhaps Pitt couldn't find the Chinese guy's grave, and pissed in the water supply instead.  It'd explain the seemingly drunk ravings of nmbluesky & company.
