I had never heard the term "blood libel" before, so I googled it.
 Holy shit.

From wikipedia:

Blood libel (also blood accusation<1><2>) refers to a false accusation or claim<3><4><5> that religious minorities, in European contexts almost always Jews, murder children to use their blood in certain aspects of their religious rituals and holidays.<1><2><6> Historically, these claims have–alongside those of well poisoning and host desecration–been a major theme in European persecution of Jews.<4>

The libels typically allege that Jews require human blood for the baking of matzos for Passover. The accusations often assert that the blood of Christian children is especially coveted, and historically blood libel claims have often been made to account for otherwise unexplained deaths of children. In some cases, the alleged victim of human sacrifice has become venerated as a martyr, a holy figure around whom a martyr cult might arise. A few of these have been even canonized as saints, like Gavriil Belostoksky.

In Jewish lore, blood libels were the impetus for the creation in the 16th century of the Golem of Prague by Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel. Many popes have either directly or indirectly condemned the blood accusation, and no pope has ever sanctioned it.<7> These libels have persisted among some segments of Christians to the present time.

Why would anyone be shocked that a woman who is known to have comported with a witch doctor would hesitate to cast herself as a victim by invoking this to sad, too tragic, too disgusting term?

WHAT? No mention of Muslims and their use of "Blood Libels".
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

The Term ‘Blood Libel’: More Common Than You Might Think

http://www.nationalreview.com/campaign-spot/256955/term-blood-libel-more-common-you-might-think

Andrew Sullivan, October 10, 2008:

A couple of obvious thoughts. Paladino speaks of “perverts who target our children and seek to destroy their lives.” This is the gay equivalent of the medieval (and Islamist) blood-libel against Jews.

Ann Coulter’s column, October 30, 2008:

His expert pontificator on race was The Washington Post’s Eugene Robinson, who said the Pittsburgh hoax was “the blood libel against black men concerning the defilement of the flower of Caucasian womanhood. It’s been with us for hundreds of years and, apparently, is still with us.”

From a the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, September 30, 2009:

Almost immediately following the aftermath of the shooting, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation was the unlikely voice that called for the safeguard of Muslims in the armed forces.

Within hours of the news breaking, MRFF founder and president Mikey Weinstein called upon President Barack Obama to “immediately issue a statement as Commander-in-Chief making it clear that there would be a zero-tolerance policy against any member of the U.S. military inflicting harassments, retribution or reprisal against an Islamic member of the U.S. military.” …

He criticized former Alaska Governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin for saying that she was “all for” profiling against Muslims.

“We’re not painting all Jews as thieves for Madoff’s economic crimes,” said Weinstein, comparing Palin’s comments to a “blood libel.”

During the recount in 2000:

Florida Democrat Peter Deutsch last night on Crossfire:

Let me just talk a little bit about the whole, I guess, spin from the Republicans about — which has been to me the absolute most — the worst statements I have ever heard probably in my life about anything. I mean, almost a blood libel by the Republicans towards Al Gore, saying that he was trying to stop men and women in uniform that are serving this country from voting. That is the most absurd thing and absolutely has no basis in fact at all.

In the grand scheme of things, the idea that Palin used a phrase associated with one particular, egregious and historically recurring false accusation to rebut a modern false accusation seems like little reason for outrage. For perspective on what really is worth outrage, the services for 9-year-old victim Christina Taylor Green are tomorrow.

Wow, I'm so totally glad that no one has ever, ever used this phrase before.  Or if they have, they have not been given a "pass" by the media and major Jewish groups.   :thatsright: ::) ::)

5. That's what I fear She's a dog whistle virtuoso. The choice of terms was not accidental.
See the final sentence of the quote I cited from wiki. Her dominionist supporters would absolutely get the reference. She is more than a crazy politician. She is a crazy religious extremist, and she is that before all else.
I got an idea Stinky,....... :foff:

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Ok I'm beginning to believe that ALL Libtards have lack the reading capacity to comprehend even the most simply of written statements or process what their ears report to them.

No where in what Gov. Palin said did she indicate she was the victim.

These idiots seriously need to start reading the original transcript and quit relying on Media Matters to tell them what they think they heard.
