Sanders Fundraises Off Arizona Murders

This afternoon Sanders sent out a fundraising appeal, seeking to raise money to fight Republicans and other “right-wing reactionaries” responsible for the climate that led to the shooting.

He writes:

Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country.  I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at www.bernie.org.  There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me.  Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.

A staffer in Sanders’ campaign office confirmed that the letter went out today.

No talk radio for Chafee, and on-duty state workers, too

Chafee doesn’t plan to spend his own time on talk radio, and he intends to ban state employees from spending their state work time talking on talk radio, which was Carcieri’s favorite medium and an integral part of his communications operation.

He said the policy emanates from a belief that talk radio is essentially “ratings-driven, for-profit programming,” and “we don’t think it is appropriate to use taxpayer resources” in the form of state employee work time to “support for-profit, ratings-driven programming.”

Trainor said the new governor will continue to talk to the news reporters for the local radio stations, and the nonprofit local NPR affiliate.

Talk radio under siege

Chris Matthews Cites Mark Levin Being Complicit In AZ Shooting

"Every time you listen to them, they are furious. Furious at the left. With anger that just builds and builds in their voice and by the time they go to commercial they are just in some rage every night with some ugly talk. Ugly sounding talk and it never changes," Matthews said.

Liberal Sickos Exploit a Rampage

Imagine the Saturday morning of congressional aide Mark Kimble. Kimble told of going to a Safeway for a typical meet-and-greet event with his boss, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Kimble said he went into the store for coffee, and as he came out, Giffords was talking to a couple about Medicare and reimbursements, and federal judge John Roll had just walked up to her and shouted “Hi” – when a gunman opened fire.

Nobody in America should greet this scene with any other initial reaction than horror. Six people were killed, including Judge Roll, several retirees, and a nine-year-old girl. Over a dozen others were seriously injured in the carnage. Giffords was shot in the head and remains in critical condition. Sadly, shamefully, within just minutes, a nasty political spin was kicking in without any brake for decency or evidence. Conservatives were to blame.

Conservatives could see the liberals trying to replay the Oklahoma City bombing smears from 1995. An anonymous, cowardly “veteran Democratic strategist” whispered to Politico that Team Obama needs to “to deftly pin this on the tea partiers … Just like the Clinton White House deftly pinned the Oklahoma City bombing on the militia and anti-government people.”

Is this deft? Or just daft? This partisan insanity was presented as savvy by the usual suspects. Ex-Newsweek reporter Howard Fineman oozed that Obama needed to gain advantage over Republicans without seeming political: “The trick is to make it without seeming to be trying to make it. He will, after all, be speaking at a funeral.”

It's good to see you pointing fingers for the next shooting already.

It's good to see you pointing fingers for the next shooting already.

This whole thing is becoming a 3 ring Circus and Side Show.

When one of the Manson girls were paroled, was that Squeaky(?) and she tried to shoot President Ford, few asked her if she was a Rep. or Demo.

Serial killers or even your neighbor who believes they are receiving radio assaults from their refrigerator due to mind control from the Government that go on a rampage, few don't have some kind of excuse.

My neighbors dog told me to kill---Son of Sam---  an example.

Some of these massacres come on over night, it takes years to build up the ability to head out and kill people.

The few that go temporally insane and shoot up a work place after being fired, wipe out their own family, these things has been festering in their mind for some time until the straw that broke the camels back takes place.

People that have been waiting in the wings for an incident akin to this to barrel in and warp and twist the motives of killers to their own agenda.  Finally, now they can make a name for themselves on the blood of the dead by pushing anti-gun laws.  Now they can push for censorship of the news, talk radio books make a case for it.

What we have is a disturbed young man that found an opportunity to kill.  Sooner or later he would have found a way to take out a large number of people, but circumstances fell in his lap.

We might as well blame Saveway for allowing the event to be held on their property.  The blame is on the shooter and what ever his reasons have nothing to do with anything except that he is now a mass murderer.

Forget the Libs. Psycho Mambo jumbo  and just face the fact that a disturbed man managed to gun down all those people.
