Debating a RW Receptionist ...

Living in Orange County in SoCal can be a bit annoying.

The receptionist that controls the TV in the lobby continues to watch Fox NEWS.
When I go into the lobby, I ask to change the channel to CNN or MSNBC.

She did it the first time, but when I left she immediately changed it back to Fox.

I later told her that she needed to watch a different channel, when she replied
"No I don't"

So I showed her the article about the Univ. Of Maryland study that proves that
those that watch Fox News are the most misinformed electorate. She said that it
depends on how you interpret correct.

I then told her that:
"You can have your own opinion, but you can't have your own facts"

Then she started spouting off about giving money to the job creator and entrepreneurs.
So I asked 3 questions
1) "If I gave you $1M right now, would you hire anyone?" her response was "Probably not"
2) "If giving a tax breaks to the rich creates jobs, and they've had this tax break since
2001, where are the jobs?"
3) "Why if they create jobs with the tax breaks did the manufacturing jobs go from
18M in 2001 down to 12M in 2008? Shouldn't they have increased?"

Her response to both questions was "I don't know"

She then said "I love watch Glen Beck"

My head almost exploded. I had to walk away.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

LOL and all humor at its core has truth.

I love the way he makes her turn the channel and then gets mad that when he leaves she turns it back.  Are these DUmbf*cks control freaks or WHAT?!?!?!?!?

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

Then we look out upon the moonbats leaving new steaming piles of progressive shit on our lawns, pull on our "big boy" britches, and wade back out there to kick s'more ass.

Actually the "correct" answers have been proven to be biased and incorrect.

And to answer your over simplistic questions:

If you gave me $1 mil dollars I would create a job only if I started a business with it, obviously. However, I would probably go out and buy a bunch of stuff and when lots of people do that (that means people need a disposable income) somebody has to produce/ship/stock/sale/etc. said products.

But if you're so wonderful and progressive and all that, why don't you use that cool million to employ people yourself. Provided you were stupid enough to give that much money away why the hell would you give it away to just one person when you can spread the wealth? Aren't you the ones who are always saying if you give money to the people on the bottom they'd spend on stuff and create jobs? This would be a perfect opportunity to prove yourself right.

If you are so economically challenged that you can't see there are myriad reasons for the current financial problems then there's no point in explaining them to you. You're simply too stupid to understand.

You seem to think "the rich" all own big multinational corporations and just sit around at their desks not hiring anyone because they want to keep their tax breaks. The fact is the people that do most of the hiring in this country are small businesses and there's so much chaos right now they don't know whether they can afford to hire people.

Oh, and one of the reasons businesses go overseas is because of how much it costs to employ UNION members. Eventually legacy costs and benefits packages makes production costs exceed profits. There's a reason GM now stands for Government Motors.

Were it me, I would've said "I don't know" too. I've got work to do and don't have time to debate left wing lunatics, especially since you aren't really interested in having a conversation. You just want to spew talking points. Besides, my rhetoric might be so incendiary that one of the people sitting in the lobby might suddenly turn into a psycho and start shooting up the place. Given that they're already forced to watch FOX, arguing with an idiot might just send them over the edge.

Besides, I'm only an imaginary receptionist since this only happened in your mind.

So I showed her the article about the Univ. Of MERRYland study

Gummint funded study no less, I bet.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

1) "If I gave you $1M right now, would you hire anyone?" her response was "Probably not"
2) "If giving a tax breaks to the rich creates jobs, and they've had this tax break since

3) "Why if they create jobs with the tax breaks did the manufacturing jobs go from

...

1) While I might not *create* a job - I'll give work to a whole bunch of people. An accountant and solicitor to ensure I don't pay more tax than is absolutely required.  A real estate agent and a solicitor again to purchase land. A builder and laborer or two to construct things. I'll pour a buncha money through the local building supplies, hardware stores and trucking companies. Provide work for a dozer operator , electrician, plumber and several other qualified trades. More work for general labor as well.

2) Talk to the unions and environmental activists that make the return on investment negligible on most new projects constructed in the western world.

3) See Above.

Absolutely correct.  The regulatory environment is a killer; I doubt any greenfield factory could be built today.
I know for a fact a papermill couldn't.

Anyway, Cid_B is correct, aggiesel does come off sounding like a know-it-all tool.  Anybody came up to me and said "you NEED to watch a different channel," you'll see fireworks.

Get a load of this guy, with Che as his avatar:

2. Is this a RW-friendly company?
And what is your relationship with this company, are you a customer, vendor, etc? If you're a customer or vendor, I suppose you might be able to talk to her boss (assuming it's not a RW-friendly company), let them know that their receptionist is engaging in offensive behavior.
What an asshole.  Bad advice, too.

I wonder what she'll do with those articles?   :rotf:

She sounds awesome.  If he keeps up his badgering, she should complain to HR that he is creating a hostile work environment.

In case the DUmmy comes over here, you talk so much about helping the "little guy."  I don't know about where you come from, but most receptionists around here are hardly raking in the big bucks.  Does it make you feel like a big man to bug her about politics while she is trying work?

I found a receptionist job that pays as low as $9/hr.  The receptionist probably lives paycheck-to-paycheck and really doesn't want to hear this guys bullshit.
