There's at least one psycho that pummels someone randomly every year. However, this doesn't sound all that random.

Muggers generally go for people with obvious merchandise (i.e. wallets, purses, fanny packs, etc), and when going for it, it's hit, grab and run like hell. She had nothing on her? The missing of several teeth tells me that this was a beatdown, and not a hit-n-skip.
