Protesting Christina Taylor??
« on: January 11, 2011, 09:13:55 AM »
Quote
Of the many people injured at the insane shooting of Arizona Representative Gabrielle Giffords, the most tragic story was that of Christina Taylor Green, a nine-year-old girl and innocent bystander who was shot and killed by Jared Lee Loughner, the accused wannabe assassin.  That tragic death is garnering national attention, and unfortunately, national attention means the Westboro Baptist Church will be showing up to do their standard anti-gay, anti-America protest.  Fortunately, a flight of “angels” will be showing up to protect Christina Taylor Green’s funeral from Westboro Baptist.

Alright...I've been to church. I like chruch. Very humbling experience, and a good way to get closer to our Lord. However...what the HELL is the Westboro Church planning on protesting against? I don't care about any bullshit reason they give. What is looks like to me is that they're protesting a 9 year old girl. Why. An innocent child who was taken away by a loon in a split second! I'm beyond pissed at this, and will never....EVER be attending this "Church."

Certainly IMO, this is no way to get to heaven. In fact, I believe this would be put you on a faster track to hellfire, and brimstone. Have fun attempting to shit on a little girl's funeral Westboro. Are you proud of yourselves? :censored:

THANK YOU for what you do!

Rev, Phelps is a disbarred attorney in Kansas. He is a Democrat who has tried, and failed, to win political office in that state.

The "Westboro Baptist Church" is nothing but a front for a hate group and has absolutely no basis or function in organized religion.

I hope that helps put things in perspective a bit.

As to why they want to "protest" Christina's funeral, let's not forget one other item regarding Phelps and his horde of thugs - they are attention whores and delight in pushing the buttons of grieving people so that they, WBC, can unleash their rather considerable legal resources to go after anybody who infringes on their "right" to "peaceably assemble."

WBC's legal pursuits are rather enlightening. That's how they earn their money - first, by pushing the buttons of grieving people so that they react, then WBC sues for damages.

Fred Phelps is a disbarred attorney in the state of Kansas.

I'm still pissed. Radical groups such as the WBC, the 9th Circuit court, the administration, Leftist radio, etc aren't sitting very well with me at all in this horribly sad time.

Dammit! :argh:

'Angels' Will Counter Westboro Baptist Protests At Arizona Victims' Funerals

Outraged at the news that members of the tiny Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., will try to get attention for their anti-abortion views by protesting outside the funerals of 9-year-old Christina Taylor Green and the five others killed in Saturday's Arizona shooting rampage, people in Tucson and local lawmakers there are organizing to counter any such actions.

CNN reports that there are plans for an "angel action." Volunteers will wear "8- by 10-foot 'angel wings' ... to shield mourners from pickets." The funerals begin Thursday.

Local news station ABC-15 adds that "Arizona Lawmakers are hoping some quick action Tuesday will [also] protect mourners from protesters." Arizona State Representative Kyrsten Sinema has drafted legislation that would require any protesters to stay at least 300 feet away.

There are several Facebook pages up and running, including "Fight the Westboro Baptist Church in Tucson with Love," (Link 0 where you can join others who object to Westboro Baptist's plans.

Westboro Baptist, led by Fred Phelps, has been showing up in recent years at soldiers' funerals and other high-profile services to push its views — and blame the deaths on America's supposedly sin-driven society. It has even said "thank God for the shooter" in the Arizona tragedy.

I swear...if it was a funeral for my father, brother, mother, aunt, uncle, cousin, etc...I would throw fists, they would leave by force, and we would proceed with the mourning. I wouldn't stand for something like this if I was related to the girl who perished at the hands of a MAD MAN!

That is exactly what the westboro group wants, and how they fund themselves. If you did that, they would sue you for assault, be awarded civil damages, and have more funds for their protests.

I think that the "angels" have exactly the right idea.  They are planning on peacefully standing there blocking the protesters from the view of the mourners.

Apparently, the stated reason for the protest is that the girl's family is Catholic, and according to the westboro freaks, "God Hates Catholics."   :mental:

*sigh* I know it's not the right answer, but I think someone would have to stop me, and knowing my family, they would. A whole slew of vulgarities would spew from my mouth though. I'm not usually a violent person at all, but this kind of thing can take me there. It is the utmost disrespect. It is vile, it is atrocious, and the WBC should be ashamed of themselves.

If they think they're getting to Heaven with their own twisted logic, I personally think they're mistaken. They sin simply by saying they do what they do in the name of the Lord. If they have ever said that. That's a no-no.

This whole thing just makes me sick to my stomach. I'm hoping the angels block them from causing ANY kind of commotion.

Notice on who they pray on, and who they stay far-far away from.

Don't see them at any Muslim funerals, do you.  As far as I know they do not attend any non Christian funerals.

This tells me that this Phelps family believe the Christians are easy marks to make a boodle of money off of.

Seems they go after the family's that are TRUE Christians and not likely to fight back.

Arizonans Rally to Prevent Westboro Church Disruption of Shooting Victims' Funerals

Arizona residents are locking arms to stop the Westboro Baptist Church from disrupting the funerals for victims of Saturday's shooting in Tucson, with bikers and others organizing a massive counter-protest and state lawmakers fast-tracking a bill to hamstring the group.

I agree with you Rev 100% but they don't need anymore money to continue their hate. I would love for some of the families of the funerals that they protest sues them and they lose bad.

Phelps called Jared Loughner a veteran on rampage, even though he was not a soldier, let alone a veteran. Phelps is clearly consumed with self-hatred. I think he is gay and cannot deal with it. He also got into West Point, but never went, despite his father's wishes. He never had any good relationship with his father. He is on par with Osama bin Laden.

Hold on just one second.   Did I miss read a poster that said that Phelps was going to picket the funeral because the child was Catholic???

Is it not a HATE crime to harass people for their religion, race or lifestyle????

I do believe the Phelps believe they have hit pay dirt with this one----if they show up.

Some one has to get on the stick and find out who is sponsoring these ass holes. Find out how so many of them have jobs with the State and how they got them.

We like to think these people are just a weird family but there is no way they could have stayed in business without some very powerful people backing them.  I do not believe it is just them that are in the game for the money.

This if they do show up may be their downfall, or worse make them very rich indeed.

It's already been done.

A soldier's family sued and lost, as Phelps and his group have the right due to the First Amendment. There's a couple of threads here somewhere about it.

You started one of them....
