I really do not care about the political affiliations of the dumb ass that pulled the trigger.  My biggest problem is that this will become a federal case, and there is no federal death penalty.

You see, I don't care you how feel.  I really don't.  More importantly, neither does anyone else.  Only about 200 people on a planet of 7 billion actually care about your feelings, and that's if you're lucky.  The sooner you grasp this lesson, the better off you will be.  And since almost no one gives a damn what you do, say, think, or feel, appealing to your feelings when you encounter differences of opinion is not only illogical, but useless.

There most certainly is, though it's only been used once in recent times(10 years ago for McVeigh.)

There is, but it's a question of whether or not the shooter was targeting the judge.  If he was, he's toast.

He'll still be toast under state statutes.  No way in hell they won't try to give this guy the needle.

After reading a ton of his rants, I'm convinced that he is part of the left fringe, where they have some commonality with staunch libertarians -- Mike Malloy and/or Alex Jones/infowars.com fan.

I'll just say my piece. Malloy is anything but a free thinker. I'll admit he may actually think once in a while, but not about much. About the only thing on his tiny little mind is hate, venom, and vitriol.

He's a screamer, a whiner, and a loon. How could he be considered a libertarian when he's basically a robotic parrot to the extreme. He may as well be sitting on Soros' shoulder.
