I'm a flag-loving vet just as much as the Marine in this article, but he read and signed the HOA agreement before closing on his house, and knew what the rules were. If he didn't agree with the rules, he should have sought residence somewhere where the HOA agreement was less stringent.
I call BS on this one. :bs: Sounds like a poser to me. Hey moron, there is a law that supercedes HOA rules.

From the legal perspective, he most likely will not prevail. He has entered into the covenants with the HOA and case laws have demonstrated to repeatedly rule for the HOA. The issue is not that he can't fly our country flag with pride in his back yard. It's the act of breaching the agreed guidelines that is at issue.

What a selfish individual. So because he was poor, disadvantaged or foolish enough to fight in conflicts that were none of his business he feels he has to force his beliefs and needs onto others he expects to be neighbours. Is his pride in his country so vulnerable and needy that he has to keep them up all night and tower above them? I think you should always be able to display the flag. However, people who buy property and then immediately start litigation against the HOA are, almost without exception, a bunch of troublemaking pricks. In this case, the HOA restrictions allow display of the flag. If this guy wasn't a DUmmy jerk, he could have shown the flag and been a good neighbor at the same time. Instead, he chose to be a DUmbass looking for attention, and a nightmare of a neighbor.

Did any of these idiots actually read the article?

There have been no complaints, only praise and admiration! Seems to me if it's a-okay with the residents, maybe it's the HOA that has their head up their collective asses!

Besides, looks to me like the way the law is written, which says, in part, that a homeowners association "may not adopt or enforce any policy … that would restrict or prevent a member of the association from displaying the flag." Key word bein RESTRICT! Looks pretty plain to me!!!

Bend over and kiss yer ass HOA! Looks like playin nanny stater is gettin' ya ready for a ****in'!
