This makes me want to bitch slap Newt and then do it again.

HE WILL NEVER GET MY VOTE. The dumbass cost us an elected seat.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

named deputy secretary for local government at the Department of State

This sounds like a do-nothing job, one that we can easily cut.  This is a phone-in job with a cushy salary and pension; we just can't afford it anymore.  I'm writing my new state senator.  Anything with "Deputy" in the title can be eliminated.  Anything with "Assistant Deputy" or "Deputy Assistant" has to give last year's salary back.
