Buoys strung on border canal to prevent drownings

Quote
CALEXICO, Calif. (AP) -- A government agency on the front lines of the immigration debate has begun installing lifesaving buoys in a fast-moving canal along the U.S.-Mexico border where migrants drown each year as they sneak into the country illegally.

The debate over the lifelines has long presented authorities with a moral dilemma: Is it acceptable to do nothing when so many immigrants are dying in the water? Or do lifesaving devices lull immigrants into a false sense of security that they can conquer the channel while giving them extra motivation to enter the country illegally?

:thatsright:

I'm sure there are more deserving countries that could use those buoys.  :whatever:

Maybe we can get that dumb bitch Napolitano to give 'em to Afghanistan.  Oh yeah, she's trying to CLOSE the borders there.

Never mind.

Is it too much to hope that there are mines attached to those buoys?

I know, right? What a joke. She can't even do the job in the U.S. and they expect her "expertise" in Afghanistan?!

Probably.  But I bet they don't move around too much, and as such they make great ranging markers.  :killemall:

So we can't have a fence and they just basically made a rope bridge over our moat.  Great.

You may consider it a "rope bridge" if you want to.  I prefer to look on it as a "kill box". :killemall:

You can look at it however you want, but my guess is there's ICE agents sitting on the good side with towels and welfare forms for anybody that make it across.
