I Keep Hearing About The Rich Moving To Florida To Avoid State Income Tax......
how does Florida do it? How can they provide services, etc without a state tax? Or Are they now in trouble like most states? I know at least two wealthy people that moved to Florida in the past couple of years. What gives?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x112103I'm not sure, but when I read DUmmy globalnumber's post, I get a faint whiff of mole sweat.

1. TN does not have a state income tax. sales tax is high.
Sales tax state plus local 9.75% max. (adjusted downward for large purchases like autos)
State income tax zero
Local income tax zero
Let's see, would I prefer that, or a democrat state with high sales tax, plus high state income tax, plus high local income tax, plus public services as bad as any in Red State Hell? Let me noodle that for a while.

2. Is Tenn Having Financial Problems? .......
if not an they are prospering - why don't other states follow suit?
A few years ago, as the Tennessee democrat party was in its death throes, it tried to force a state income tax through the legislature. On the day of the vote, a large crowd gathered at the state capitol, and actually broke out a few windows. The tax, and nearly every politician who didn't strongly oppose it, lost. The democrat party went from a majority to something like a 30-70 minority in state government.

9. TN does have a tax on investment income (dividends, etc.) of 6%
Tennessee Individual Income Tax
The "Hall Tax"
The Hall Tax is a strange one. I suspect compliance with it is about like the income tax in Italy. Many Tennesseans don't even know it exists, and it makes you feel like a fool when you pay it.

4. Texas doesn't have state tax either
We pay 8.25% sales tax in Dallas. Texas does it by being at the bottom of all the good things lists and at the top of all the bad things lists. I mean services and whatnot are minimal, at best. Texas supposedly has been better off than a lot of places economics wise, but really this next budget is going to be a nightmare and a great many people are going to suffer.
DUmmy proud2BDUmb Anne continues to embarrass herself, and those who voted for her, with lame posts. Let's hope she is hung over from celebrating her Top DUmmy victory:

12. 10% sales tax here AND we have state income tax too
Services used to be great in Kansas but not so much anymore. Thank you Republicans. Not.
I don't know Kansas politics, but I'm surprised if repukes are responsible for their high taxes.

14. exactly...half-paved streets and bridges...except near Cowboy Stadium.
Parkland Hospital OVERFLOWING with the uninsured(and it's already huge)
Texas definitely has a distinction between the Haves and have-nots.
Just as a favor to the DUmmies, most of whom use the ER as their primary care physician, I will give them the secret to quick service in the emergency room: Just go in wearing a windbreaker with "ICE" in large letters on the back. The crowd will disappear.

13. I don't like the weather in Florida
Every time I have ever been to Florida, it has rained. And then it's humid. Yuck. We have humidity here in boring Kansas. Why leave and go to another humid place? LOL
After the Super Bowl, I saw an on-field interview with Tom Brady, and he shouted, "I'm going to Kansas!"
