Romney is the front runner. I sure hope he does not get it cause I will stay at home on election day. I will not vote for another RINO. If the Establishment Repubs want to pick and choose our nominee, I will have no part in it. I am fed up with Rockefeller jerks like Rove and Krawhammer spouting off their know it all philosophy. The GOP needs to change not the Tea Party. If they do not, Obama might get reelected. I am just not too big on compromising my principles anymore.

I agree 100%. Romney is the worst because he would make sure we are stuck with Deathcare. He is the one who designed the thing and implemented it in his home state as governor.

Romney is not just a RINO, he's a pretentious pretty boy who has made a career out of taking credit for other's work. I'm speaking specifically of the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he came swooping in like the proverbial pterodactyl, combed his hair, took a dump, and told everybody how pretty he was.

The only difference between Romney and Edwards is Edwards got caught.

Does anybody else think Romney is Headroomesque, as in Mitt Headroom?

Above all else (except her family), Palin is most assuredly a politician. That means she can suck it up and drive on when they put the key in the ignition and start the engine. She's a team player when it's called for.

I don't believe she'd be "sacrificing her principles" just as I don't believe she's officially any kind of Tea Party candidate. Oh sure, she appeals to Tea Partiers, but as it's not an official political party in any way (nor is it going to be), Palin isn't going to be running for office as a Tea Party candidate.

Somewhere upthread somebody (debk?) talked about the inevitable impact of presidential campaign on her family - and I would think, based on what I've seen, that she would not put her family through a nasty, vicious campaign at this time.

I could not agree with you more about the 2008 candy-dates. Cotton ball charisma is right.

The RNC needs to gin up a WORTHY candidate and get with the program. Obama will NOT be a pushover. Palin can definitely help get things rejuvenated, as Steele has let things languish far, far too long.

She's already been accused of such already because she had to parrot John McCain's platform when she was his VP nominee. Go on any Palin thread at FR and you'll hear it in spades (oops, is Vesta around, maybe I shouldn't use that word). Whether she runs or not, no way would I want to see her head of the RNC. She can start her own pac (Conservative National Committee) or whatever but the RNC isn't worth saving. Eventually it'll once again become what it is now...a polite, politically correct, inside the beltway organization that serves as a way to pay back people you owe but don't know what else to do with.

That's probably because Edwards doesn't wear underwear with magical powers (my apologies to any Mormons, I couldn't resist considering Edwards' proclivities).

  • This election is about paychecks v. food stamps

Look what happened last time. Most of the true conservatives had all the charisma of a cotton ball. The only one who had personality, Thompson, obviously didn't want it. Open primaries in early voting states where the candidate is chosen before most of us get a voice pretty much guarantee a milquetoast.
Cindie

This is what irks me the most about the republicrat party atm. The open primaries had McVain chosen before I could even vote here in Florida. Since Bush 43's first term I no longer affiliate myself with the repub party. I am a conservative which apparently is not the same as "republican" anymore. I definitely dont drink that "compassionate conservative" koolaid. I gave about 35k to help get Bush re-elected as a "lesser of 2 evils". But thats it. Im finished with the repukes. I only give directly to individual candidates now since the party no longer respects my wishes. My wishes?: I want closed primaries so that democrats in the North East can no longer "cross over" and determine who our candidate is going to be in those 3 or 4 states before the rest of us even gets a chance to vote our choice. Thats how we got McCrap and that is how they will ram Romney or whoever down our throats. I for one am sick of it.

Boehner says it will no longer be "business as usual". Well ... if words were the only thing that mattered (to me) I might as well vote for the commissar, the messiah, the "one". Fool me once.. shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me ... I am not a liberal moonbat that swoons at pretty sounding rhetoric. Talk is cheap Mr Beohner. I held my breath for 8 YEARS with milk toast Bush. And I had to defend him too, because he wouldnt defend himself ... how stupid do you think that made me feel?

But, no more. No more talk. You Mr Boehner are the new speaker. I am watching. I am watching you and the rest of the leadership like a hawk. I know you appointed liberal repukes to the committee chairs already because of "the good 'ol boys network" and because it was "their turn". Except for the one you made an exception for so he could chair again despite term limits. All liberal repukes. All appointed by ... YOU.

Actions speak louder than words Mr Speaker. How is this NOT "business as usual"? I suspect YOU are the next impediment to our nations return to constitutional, limited government governing.  I suspect YOU are the next one that must be thrown out (voted out) and replaced because despite the language (key words) you use, its nothing more than smoke and mirrors like your friends across the aisle from you use. I am not your mindless drone Mr Speaker. If you cant or wont lead like a conservative, then get the hell out of the way and we will find somebody who will. Please... do me a favor. Go piss on someone else and tell them its raining. Or go play in traffic ... either way, I dont care.

Go Tea Party! (Btw ... luv Fred Thompson too.) :)

Hey Janice, I don't know which North East you were referring to beside New Hampshire.  New Jersey (my state) and many of the other North East don't have primaries until late spring through late summer, to the best of my recollection.
You're not the only one who prefers closed primaries and a schedule where my vote might actually matter.

I was hoping that Boehner would not be elected speaker but that is how this shithole town of DC works. Seniority means everything. The new Tea Party House members will get a few crumbs. For the life of me, his crying jags just piss me off. Ball busting Democrats like Barney, Obummer, Pisslosi, etc must be laughing their ass off. This weak kneeded politician is going to crumble in the presence of Obama just like McCain does everytime his name is mentioned. JHC, Palin has got more backbone than 99% of these panty wasted old dogs in Congress. I do not see any fighters in the Repub party. Just about every damn one of them wimped out until the the Tea Party started taking hold. They could not wait until today to pass a clean tax extension bill and save 300 billions dollars which will be dumped on the national debt.

Palin can attrack 3 times the crowd of supporters than your boy Romney. I will not vote for the originator of the Health Care debacle in MA. We have a smooth talking slick Democrat in office today. Repubs do not need a replication.

Palin will be the nominee and the next President.

John Boehner, Mitch McConnell and Eric Cantor. These are the old guard. The "establishment" repuke "leadership" that we have to watch (and possibly vote out). Watch -- as they throw us a little red meat now and then to "string us along". They will cause gridlock, which is better than what we have now but they wont advance any true limited government reforms (other than to "mouth" them). Real reform will only happen thru our tea party representatives who are only  newly minted freshmen and dont actually wield any real power other than their numbers. Which are/is not enough to challenge the current Establishment, Old Guard, Country Club, Blue Blood Repukes.

These 3 (Boehner, McConnell, Cantor) used to be effective to a large degree or another. But they have obviously been there too long now. They for whatever reason did not "get the message" this last election or they did, but they decided to put it on "ignore" because that is what the Washington "ruling elites" do to those of us in "fly over country".

2012 is our next chance to shake things up tea party style. It also may be our (the republican partys) last. Especially in the senate. Then theres 2014. But 2012 is key now.

As the old Who song says, take care: "we dont get fooled again ...". Throw these ba*tards out before its too late.

I maybe a crazy optimist...But I think Boehner, at least, got the message from the voters loud and clear. Witness his reponse to Harry Reid and the Democrats' attack about repealing that nightmare Obamacare...

Thank you for reminding us – and the American people – of the backroom deal that you struck behind closed doors with ‘Big Pharma,’ resulting in bigger profits for the drug companies, and higher prescription drug costs for 33 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part D, at a cost to the taxpayers of $42.6 billion.

The House is going to pass legislation to repeal that now.  You’re welcome.

Dear Janice,

This is a really picky little point but could you NOT call them repukes? Every time I see it I have to check and see whether someone's quoting one of them or reposting something from DU. You can call them another pet name but that one makes me really suspicious.

I know he believes it's a women's right to choose. But I have heard him say that the health care bill is unconstitutional, and I don't believe he is for open borders. Please cite where he says he's for open borders. There is nothing in the wiki entry that says he is, if there is I have missed finding it - twice.

I have a friend that says the same thing and I can't believe anyone would let the current resident of the WH stay in power, even over a RINO, because you refuse to vote under these circumstances.  Romney isn't my choice, I admit I voted for him in the primaries (in protest over McCain) and truly hope he isn't on the ticket this time.  But to NOT VOTE????
