Coincidently the VRWC has released a video of what to do as a future NCO in our beloved military.

DADT gets repealed, and we get "Sergeant Snuggle Bunny."

Coincidence?

I think not.

WTF-- my sons father made E5 on a nuclear sub at 24 years old and next hubby made Chief aboard a boat at age 26, am I missing somethings here.??

What are the hell are the changes in all these years that make it so difficult to make rate.

Snuggle bunny you must have to be twice as on the ball then the service people before you were. You have to be better educated then the men in the past to get where you are.  Makes me wonder just how far my Men would have gone in todays world---Darn you men of today knock my socks off.

I give you two tap ON for your stripe, -----Good going, we are proud of you, the future of our country, come hell or high water.

Just be glad you did not earn your dolphins back when the earner had to drink them-----A swollen or broken arm is nothing when you do not almost die from an over dose.

Yes, but that was back in the day where if one had a pulse going in front of the board (remember what years those were, vesta?  sometime in the 70's?) you put on khakis.

I made ET1 when I was 26 (and a young-looking 26 at that.)  Just under 6 years to E-6.  Even then, the Navy average to E-6 was 11 years.  A couple of weeks after I got frocked, I went into the "Top 4" Club at Hickham AFB.  The crusty (at least 12 years in service) E-4 AP tried to drag me out, saying there was NO WAY I had any business and the "animal bar" was across the way.  I pulled out my ID card, showed it to him, and watched the color drain from his face as he left.

I had a section advisor in Nuclear Field "A" School who made SENIOR Chief (E-8) in 10 years.  Guy looked just about old enough to drive.  Almost.

Fast forward 10 years, with the drawdown, "peace dividend", whatever the hell you want to call it.  Nukes--good ones--were retiring as PO1's.  Many more were simply getting out.  Worst case was a guy who got out after 18 years, couldn't take the bullshit for 2 more years.  Remember my story from above?  There was no indication that the numbers were going to get any better.  The requirements were so ridiculous to make CPO that most of us just said **** it.

It's improved somewhat, but not everywhere, and not all job fields.

yes I remember those days long and gone, we have to admit it Sparky that these are strange new times comming to the military from when you served and I served waiting at home alone as an almost single mother, no father to help as they were gone for any reason.

Sparky do you know what happened on the aircraft Kittyhalk back in the 1970's ?  there was a full blown race riot,  aboard that boat.  the Carrier was dead in the water while 3000 sailores ran amok.

Then at the end of VN the gang fights on bases were out of hand.  this was when the draft was in force.

I came into the life of the Navy at birth, then went into the life of a sub sailors wife, the skimmer fleet did not get to me until years later and the whole shebang was upside down.    Darn I hated the skimmers and their protocol, a bunch of idiots.

I am going to grab my dog and cat and hide under the bed for a while as the memories of foul up and crap have come back----

Not your problem Sparky, it is mine and the thousands of other woman who served as we wait.

Yes Sir!!

Congrats Snugs.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle
