The Best(?) Of Bobo The Hobo
« on: December 21, 2010, 12:23:16 PM »
Forgive if this is a dupe, or the posts are too old. I just thought this particular thread had some great Bobboism in it!

I am sure there are even better Bobborants, but here's a good start:

http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9746639#9748709

Obama's path to re-election - start standing up for the poor and the middle class!

OK...the title has the word POOR in it, so we know Bobbo's on it like, well, a homeless person on a still smoldering Newport.

It's not too late. Force a showdown with the Republicans on the tax cuts for the rich. Make strengthening social security a priority. Put military budget cuts on the table. Expand the Earned Income Tax credit. Extend unemployment benefits. Bring the troops home. Make a real effort to help Americans who are facing foreclosure and those who are already homeless. Feed the hungry. These are all things that most Americans believe in.

What would Jesus do? He would side with the poor over those who think it's noble to occasionally allow a few crumbs to drop from the table of their bloated feasts. That's the message that President Obama needs to get across. He campaigned on "the audacity of hope." It's time to start displaying some of that audacity.

OK. Pretty much standard, but mild, DU rant. But it is missing something: proper obedience of the Queen of the Road!

4. For every Federal dollar spent on Food Stamps, $1.74 returns to the local economy.
There is no question... take care of poor people, and they will take care of the friggin' economy!

The same is true of unemployement payments, and subsidized housing.

Speak. It. Out!

Not merely a request - a commandment!

So our poor victim tries to appease her majesty

but I certainly agree with the premise. It's immoral to let people starve while others sit around staring at their stacks of money.

Right on! Power to the people! Anti-rich, pro-poor! That's the message, right?

10. Most people aren't... that's why we need to SHOUT it out!
Subsidized housing also creates jobs.... it was in a real estate article.

You heard the president speaking about it, didn't you?

You better not have ignored The President Of The United States talking about me, and everyone like me!

NaturalHigh gets it. By all means necessary!

11. I must have missed that.
Personally, I'm all for spending whatever it takes to end homelessness and hunger. Take it out of the war budget.

A society that ignores the least fortunate among us is sick and depraved. We can afford to feed and house everyone and still have plenty around to keep the rich in diamonds and new limousines. The rich just might not be able to light quite so many cigars with c-notes.

Sorry - not good enough! When the Goddess of the cardboard condos and Aqua Velva potables says poop, you better know how much and what tint!

13. You keep pairing it with the war, which is why it never happens.
People are suffering. People are dying. It is time to sing a new tune.

Food stamps and subsidized housing do MORE for the economy than the damned tax cuts.

Start singing that loudly and clearly, and drop the war stuff. Suffering people can't wait.

Later, she demands

I repeat, it is time to start getting the REAL facts out, and leave the tired phrases behind.

16. Bobbolink, with all due respect, you misunderstand me.
First of all, I don't consider myself to be "liberal" or "progressive". I actually consider myself to be a conservative Democrat. Honestly, my only reason to bring up the war budget is to answer the question that the Republicans will ask - "how will we pay for it?" Yes, I agree that action needs to be taken immediately to help the homeless and the hungry. It breaks my heart to think of people who can't feed themselves or their children. I'm all for paying for it by raising taxes for the rich, which I think should be raised in any case.

Not a Liberal? Not a Progressive! Oh noes!

The misunderstood link speaks:

17. And you misunderstand me, but that is understandable if you are conservative.
Answering to the Republicans is a losing proposition.

But, if you are conservative, there is no point in trying to converse about that.

It is REAL people, like me, who are suffering, and the death toll is mounting.

And I can't even talk about my own experience because I get mocked and attacked.

So, do what you want.... it doesn't even matter, does it?

I give up. Really, I. Give. Up. You all win.

The mean old world has won! Hooray! All we have to do is send her our names, addresses, SS#, mother's maiden name, and she'll give us all a fabulous prize.

NH wants to make nice. Use Bobbo to point out how terrible things are. Poor sap.

I wish you would talk about it. Anyone who has been through really hard times can put a human face on the suffering all around us.

As a Christian, I still go back to the question "what would Jesus do?" Jesus was a champion of the poor, not an advocate for the super-wealthy.

Carcinogen made famous by Erin Brockovich found in cities across the US
The domestic tap water of 31 out of 35 United States cities surveyed contains hexavalent chromium, the probable carcinogen made famous by the film Erin Brockovich, according to an environmental report.
By Toby Harnden, Washington

In the first nationwide analysis of the chemical in American water to be made public, the study by the Environmental Working Group detected its presence in 31 out of 35 cities that were tested. The highest levels were in: Norman, Oklahoma; Honolulu, Hawaii; Riverside, California; and Madison, Wisconsin.

It ain't your heart that's broken....it's your brain.

...and you are a liberal/progressive.

Well, really, given the times in which he walked the Earth, he'd probably just figure the bum was a slave who wasn't trying very hard to earn her keep, and wonder why 'Skylark' was written in Aramaic on the side of the goatskin the so-and-so was sheltering under.

If  they are finding hexavalent chromium all over it might be because that is what gives the tint to the water in the moonbats mayo jar electrolytic hydrogen generators they put on their cars during the last gas hike . And I guarantee they just throw it on the ground or down the drain .

After trying plain old steel and seeing it vanish before their eyes they " discover" the stainless anodes last a lot longer . But the snake oil salesmen never tell them that stainless anodes/electrodes turn an otherwise safe and relatively useless process by application into a toxic heavy metal generator . It will make more than enough hexavalent to mess you up , but barely enough hydrogen to run a table top Stirling engine .

And after having sold the plumbing for several dozen of these for nit wit customers I have found that you cannot , in fact ,tell them shit .

26. I appreciate you, Rep. Grayson, but here is a clue for *you*, also...
 You say...

"What Democrats want is someone who accomplishes good things for constituents."

Then you list these things:

"progress on employment free choice act"
"progress on immigration"
"progress on civil rights"
"progress on women's rights"

What I have to ask you, Rep. Grayson, are NONE of your constituents poor?

While I have cheered your words for the last year and a half, I have finally wearied of you never mentioning poverty..... only the middleclass.

So, I ask you again.... are NONE of your constituents poor?

Did you not need also the votes of poor people?

Do you NOT understand that many "progressives" listen to your words and take a cue from you what is important? When you consistently leave out poverty, so do your followers.

SHAME.

BTW, this may come as a suprise to many, but bobbolink is homeless! And it is OUR fault!

It is this superlatively moral system that the welfare statists propose to improve upon by means of preventative law, snooping bureaucrats, and the chronic goad of fear.

$1.00 = $1.74

How does that even work?

Did Bobo drive her house into a tree?

I could see where it takes $1.74 in taxes to "create" $1.00 in food stamps assistance.  Other than that...

Oh, I know that, Boudicca.

And just...HELL no to your second comment. If it were so, I may not be posting on here with you fine people. I may be in a looney bin somewhere. :banghead:

Ya know, Rev, last night I wrote an email to my MIL.  I was so damn grateful to her for being a sane woman. :lmao:

Subsidized housing creates $1.74 from $1.00 through the magic of the mutiplyer effect, of course:

1)  DUmmy gets an apartment for next to nothing or nothing, with even the gov't writing the check.
2)  DUmmy treats the apartment like what he thinks it's worth, i.e. nothing.
3)  DUmmy trashed the apartment by:
     a)  Throwing an impotently enraged fist through the wall.
     b)  Passing out on the floor in a drug and drunk stupor, wetting himself & the carpet.
     c)  Too lazy & hungover, DUmmy lets the filth accumulate, which invites in his only friends, the roaches.

4)  DUmmy is taken to court for a lengthy eviction process.  This provides jobs for bailiffs and other county workers.
5)  Workmen are needed to come in and rehabilitate the apartment from the ground up.  Jobs for weeks for contractors and supply warehouses!!!

Voila!
