Exactly. It is illegal for a restaurant to charge your card without your authorization.
AH us Yankees, I never have eaten anywhere and paid by credit card.
When we do eat at even midscale restaurants I ask first if gratuity is included in the bill. If so for dinner time we then add 5-8 dollars over the bill, good service gets darn near 30%. But they remember us and go all out next time we visit.
At one place we used to visit I would tip 3 times the state tax. Funny, at one time I had a dude light my cigarette and another put a napkin in my lap, at another, as soon as my car pulled into the lot the bartender would start my Rum and Coke and have it waiting for me on my favorite table.
This is whats its all about, I can cook a steak, bake a potato at home and mix up a salad for $15.00 for 2. I am paying at a resturant for the service, the feeling of being pampered and no dishes or go anywhere a kitchen.
This person who went nuts because she over drew her credit card limit, ---Too bad, what is her bank suppose to do about that.
You are most correct about charging a credit card without authorization, but when the bill was presented she signed the darn thing without checking on what had been ordered and the conditions of the transaction.
For gosh sake why use a credit card for anything that is not permanent, food is a last resort. Yes I know that theme parks for a day of fun and rides that is soon forgotten are charged by some, we do book hotels or rent cars if need be with a card but only because they do not except cash.-----However we have the cash in the bank and can pay the card off on the first bill---OUCH--but peace of mind and few debts over our head is the Yankee way.
Celtic, we are going to have starting to force ourselves to be thrifty and use credit cards just when cash will not do.
If one needs something and cannot afford it in cash---save up, nickles and dimes in jars, forgo that movie or dinner out, sacrifice for what one needs or wants.
This poor poster has no idea of planning something as simple as a night out. Now I know how the mortgage problems happend, people with her mind thought signed anything placed in front of them with out reading or checking on the terms of the transactions.
Damn stash the cash under the mattrice, in jars and cans but leave those credit cars at home under a floor board.
