Constitutionally speaking I'd rather have it done through congress than the courts.
At least this way it may be overturned if the military suffers and since it was done legislatively those crying "bigotry!" won't have much of a political leg to stand on as we may retort, "We tried it your way."
If the courts decided we would be locked in with little hope of changing, i.e. Roe v Wade.
Hi,
In my opinion we are seeing the tip of the ice berg. What happens if we get an all fag military? What happens when some guy gets passed over for promotion and sues based on discrimination? What happens in the shower when several guys notice one of their peers really enjoying looking at them?
No matter how congress tries, you cannot legislate morality, nor can you legislate peoples basic beliefs. While the young people today are indoctrinated since the day they begin to socialize in kindergarden, it still will not change a whole lot.
A friend of mine who is retired military +++ says that the guy who won the medal of honor recently was well vetted politically. Lots of applications for medal of honor candidates were rejected for some very political reasons and bs excuses.
You can be sure if some gay guy does something he will be fast tracked.
