I just spoke with my Mom who is a tax preparer (including mine) and she confirmed that I will be received less from the government come tax time. I am a single member of the working poor who makes less than 20k a year.

Bill Gates will be getting more money this year. I will be getting less.

Please tell me now that is fair?

Personally, I was for all the tax cuts expiring, but goddammit, Bill ****ing Gates over the working poor???

Indefensible.

She will get a small amount less than last year since the 2% reduction in FICA is replacing the "Making Work Pay" tax break. I think.

Fairness is not a practicable governing philosophy as what is "fair" to one likely won`t be to another.
Is it fair to tell Bill Gates that the result of his lifes work and how it has affected all of our qualities of living should be confiscated simply for no other reason then I don`t have as much?

Fairness is what little children fuss about regarding who got a bigger piece of cake...some of us do grow up and stop fretting over such drivel.

Aside for her awful grammatical mistakes, her thought process is all backward.  She is considering how much the government will be "paying" her at tax time, rather than comparing it to how much she paid.  If she is making $20,000 now, what was she making last year?  Was she bumped into a new bracket?  She apparently overpaid this year and last year, but maybe she reduced how much she was paying based on last years refund.

**** you.  I just did a rough calculation of MY return.  Ya see, I'd LIKE to be able to NOT get a refund, because I don't really like the idea of giving the government an interest-free loan.  But since I'm single with no dependents, I get the max taken out.  Then I have to figure out my taxes, deductions, etc., and get my refund.

But you know what REALLY burns my ass?  You're bitching about "getting less back" when in REALITY, you're getting a refund that EXCEEDS what you paid in, given that you'll get EIC, making work pay credits, etc., etc.  IOW, I'm supporting your worthless ass because you have a NEGATIVE tax liability overall.  I, OTOH, pay about 20-25 percent of my income in federal taxes because I can't claim all those cool programs you get.

Suck it, DUmmie.  Suck it long and hard.
