Let's Talk Some R-E-S-P-E-C-T: The Ugly Racism on the Fringe Left

Quote
Monday, December 13, 2010 | Posted by Deaniac83

There was a point in my life when I used to think racism was the sole property of the political fringe Right. Lately, I have been disabused of that notion. Actually, that disillusionment has been hitting me for a while, almost from the start of President Barack Obama's term. I do want to clarify something: there are legitimate criticisms of this President, and not every criticism of his is racist. But what has been deafeningly racist is not so much the disagreement but the disrespect.

Disrespect of the President - the first black President (what, you're uncomfortable that I mention that fact and made it bold? Well then get ready for a lot of discomfort.) - has reached a pivotal point from the fringe Left. Why does it matter more coming from the Left? Because the Left is supposed to be better than this, and because the racism on the fringe Left permits the racism on the Right. Every time a Right-wing fringe person says something racist, they can point their fingers right back and say, hey, look what the "Left" did, so why isn't it okay for us?

But let's get back to the scathing, bold, unapologetic disrespect against the first black President coming from the Left. First, the seething undertone: the dumb, spineless, stupid, black guy doesn't know what he's doing; he needs to do what the smart, spine-y, know-it-all, mostly white armchair activists tell him to. I mean, what does the black man who grew up in a single-parent household and spent much of his adult life as a community organizer in the inner cities know about the plight of the poor and the downtrodden? He needs to listen to us primarily white "progressives" who've never done much more than donate to the occasional food bank to help the poor.

And when we tell him to, he needs to sacrifice the jobless, the working poor, the middle class and struggling students at the alter of some grand "principle" we want to uphold. If he makes a different decision, we are going to sit in front of our keyboards, or behind our TV cameras and throw insults at him in terms that would be unthinkable for us to use against a white president, much less a white Democratic president. We're going to blacken the black President's face while we pick a clip that whitens a white Republican Leader's face and put them right next to each other.

2. So now all criticism from the left is racist? Is that what you're honestly putting forth here?
Wow, you must be getting desperate in your defense of the president if that is truly the case.

And let's not forget, and this can be verified by going through the archives here, are perusing back issues of the Nation, Mother Jones and other leftist publications, the left was equally as vociferous in going after Clinton. The only thing that saved Clinton's ass was that so many people thought it was completely over the top to go after Clinton for his personal failings.

This is a despicable defense of the president and should be shut down as racism and flamebait.

So a black man declaring leftist criticism of O as racist is a racist thing to do?

My head hurts trying to figure that out.

5. It's not the criticism.....
although there are some who have done NOTHING BUT to criticize, and I mean everything and anything. If there are folks out there that do this, than yes, I may have to consider that they are either a Republican teabaggers or perhaps racist.

However, the article specifically states that it has to do with the rabid lack of any respect being articulated....over and over and over again.

You need to do more then that if you want a chance at an award.

6. Bullshit race card playing. It will not work. The criticism will not stop until
he behaves in the manner he claimed he would on the campaign.

We are being slaughtered out here. People are about to die.

**** you and your race baiting.

Pretty racist name you have there...mocking the speech patterns of black people.

7. I don't think the race baiting is going to work against the left this time
Sorry-I don't have a racist bone in my body and my disagreements with his policy have never nor will they ever have anything to do with the color of his skin. Every pre-election concern regarding Obama and the OP was pummeled with the race-stick. I think you need to put this away against the Left side of the aisle.
Keep it handy for the right side of the aisle because it IS an issue over there.

The problem that I have with this president is that he is a CLASSIST and he just sold my kids and grandkids down the river to pay for a yacht for the Walton's kids and grandkids.

Please eat shit and die you miserable and ignorant ass.

You conflate legitimate criticism of this president with disrespect and disrespect with something else.

"Conflate".  ::) I didn't know she considered herself "a person of color", but she makes some sense here. Then:

I love how the race card is being used on the people who have used it on us for years now with no justification at all to use it.

When you have done as many drugs as the DUmmies, yes, stupid has a color. Also 1 potato + 1 potato = blue.

Stupid has a color?

Doug's stupid ex-wife shows "solidarity" with the oppressed by alleging to be one of them.

Doug's stupid ex-wife is actually of northern Mediterraneac derivation.

It's old, it's stale, it's a lie, and even she should be tired of it by now.

In order for them to be consistent, if harsh critism of Dear Leader is racist coming from conservatives then it's also racist coming from liberals.  The only way it's not is if the libs are the one's determining the definition, in which case they claim their vision of reform for the country is vouched for by reason, by practice, and by their heart.   It is equivalent for them to justice itself.  So when they accept their own definition, then it is a contradiction in terms to accuse them of racism.

The libs charge that conservative opposition to Obama is racist is in part a cynical appeal to fear aimed at persuading blacks to continue voting for Democrats, but this could backfire.  If the proposition being put forth by the black primitives are right, there is no reason to assume that the libs self-definition is widely accepted among blacks.  Thus the libs harsh attacks on Obama are likely to look as racist as the conservatives' attacks do.

But the Angry Left is as predictable as it comes.  The libs will rally behind Obama as soon as he has a legislative battle with the Republican House, and a year from now the talk of a primary challenge will be long forgotten. Obama will either win or lose re-election without rupturing the alliance between the two Democrat core constituencies, the kooks and blacks.  The Dems perpetually use them over and over again and have for years.  No reason to believe that will change.

The little goons have rendered the subject of race entirely boring.  It does not interest me, it doesn't make my blood boil with indignation at perceived racial slurs and slights.  Yawn.

Anyway, Beth, a person of color??  How pretentious can you get?  She tans easily.  Hardly moral authority.

Oh, damn...  This is the most delicious thing I have read in years!

The race pimps and the guilty libs going at each other; I love it!  How does it feel to have that shit turned around on you, DUmmies?  How does it feel to have to wallow in the shit you dumped on the rest of us?

I got news for you, lurking DUmbasses:  When you purposefully weaken someone to the point of dependence, tell them that nothing is ever their fault, dismiss any type of civilized behavior and adherence to the laws of society as oppressive, and send them forth to wreak havoc among the populace, when they run out of people to bully they will come back at you.

And guess what?  You'll get a full dose of what you have created!

Enjoy it, ****tards.  My only regret is that you won't be smart enough to recognize you are to blame for their behavior.

It's cute how the OP keeps reciting" first black president as if the firstness of Obama should garner some special merit. One must assume the second black president is fair game...so be wary LTC West.

And Obama is not black, he is bi-racial. They only call him black to gain 96% of a demographic voting bloc (a form of racism, BTW). If they called him bi-racial he would lose 30% of that bloc overnight.

And Obama barely grew-up in a single parent household. His mother was a globe-trotting honky and when she died Obama lived with his rich white grandparents.

This OP goes to show that nothing about Obama--from his resume to defending him against criticism--can withstand actual seaches for facticity. Everything about Obama is built upon lies by people hungry for fantasies of their own devising.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."
