I guess the crazies have all been rounded up and interned in colleges around the US.
College for adult children is very expensive even for an in State school.
We see the discontent in London over the price of a college education going up to $5,000 is that for a year or total?
While our kids are in grade school and high school we Americans get frustrated with the teachings of our kids. Little we can do about that, it is free. However when the kids graduate then comes the time the parents need to be extra on alert as they have to pay out of pocket for the education. Kids do work their way through college, wait tables etc.
Any school is only as good as their teachers--- when we or our children have to pay big bucks for an education we need to look into who we are paying to teach them.
What classes are they taking, and why. Will a class in basket weaving help someone wanting to major in Botany? True it may help down the line if the student wants to go into basket weaving to know the correct type of grasses to use.
All knowledge is usefull at some time in our life, however a background check on the tenured teachers will help, what clubs the belong to, the papers they have written, their political views and what faith they follow.
Heck doing a background check on a child care provider will tell us if we wish to intrust our kids to them.
Just because a child turns a certain age does not mean their parents need not continue to look after their welfare.
Back when the adult age was set at 21 the parents had a safety net to continue to watch and take care of offspring that may be getting out of control.
Back to England, these kids have been getting free education for YEARS, now if they are lucky their parents must help pay and they need to get a job to help with the bills.----There are few jobs they can get that will not cut into class time.
Same situation America is in today, we have given entitlements to 3 generations and now want to take them away.
When one takes candy from a baby and becomes angry when the baby yells, what do they expect?
