With the national spotlight focused on Memphis this week to mark the 40th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., two presidential candidates will be making detours to the Bluff City.

Democrat Hillary Clinton's campaign announced today that she will visit Memphis on Friday "to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in remembrance of the 40th anniversary of his death."

Republican John McCain is also planning a Memphis visit Friday.

Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's official schedule indicates the candidate will be in Indiana on Friday afternoon.

No further details are available.

Just saw this on my hometown paper's site. I predict lots of press coverage.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

Holidays and semi-important events always bring out the weirdos...

Starting at 10pm PT: The brother of convicted MLK assassin James Earl Ray, John Larry Ray will join historian Lyndon Barsten to present the case that James Earl Ray was set up as a patsy by conspirators within the U.S. govt. FOX 2 News reporter John Auble will also participate in the discussion.
