Been waiting since July 13th for psychotherapy...today I'm told 7 more months

At this point I am too flabbergasted to be angry about this.

Sept 25th 2009 I was arrested and detained against my will because according to someone in County gov't, I was a suicide risk because I was despondent on being fired. Who isn't bummed out about losing their job? Well, I was released from the county (for whom I was a financial burden) and into the care of the VA (for whom I am a financial burden).

In July of 2010 my therapist threw in the towel and turned me over to her supervisor. Her supervisor determined that, as a person with: General Anxiety Disorder, Chronic Depression, cPTSD, Borderline and psychogenic amnesia, I was way too difficult for VA Out-Patient Mental Health in Milwaukee. So the previously mentioned supervisor moved to have my care provided by a private clinic. I was told on August 9 this could take -several- months. Well, 'several' can be parsed I admit that.

BUT

Now, 4 months later, I press the intake person at said 'fee-based' provider for "Behavioral Medicine," "How many NEW people get into your program per month?" I asked. The answer was 1-2. I am 14th on their list. That's seven more months of waiting on the -inside- track, and being a fee-based client (fixed reimbursement rates by US gov't about the same as Medicare), I doubt I am on the inside track, it's pretty easy for them to take a full rate paying customer deemed more "critical," and probably more profitable than I am. So the BEST window turns into an 11 month wait, the worst window? God knows; it could be out beyond a year from now...and though I hate to point out the obvious, "beyond a year" actually includes NEVER.

What to do? Rock?, Paper??, scissors?!!!

Oh my.

Because of the "character limit" on postings (35,000 characters), I can't bring over the whole comment #1, which is miles and miles long, and all the same thing.

My brother in law had a serious mental breakdown last week and he was admitted on Friday at a mental care facility.  I'm positive that as troubled as my brother in law is he is no where near as screwed up as DUers. I just don't believe their stories of not finding mental healthcare.

Ya can find mental health care easily...findin a P-Doc that will give ya all the drugs ya want is not that easy..

I have mental problems(even more so after the accident) and have found it easier to find someone to help with the mental problems easier than a Dr to deal with the physical problems.

Ain't that the truth! I need another back surgery to go along with the 3 previous and gettin' pain meds is like pullin' teeth out of a your dentist while you're in the chair with his knee in your chest!!

The hoops I have to jump thru is damn near a full time job! To say nothin' of the expense of havin' to see one pain management hack after another, most of which have never been in any sort of pain in their entire lives!

Docs are so afraid of the DEA they would rather have you suffer than risk the heat from some overzealous fed!
