Well, I must say that unlike the general electorate of 2008, there are some here who are carefully and seriously weighing their voting options. What are the candidates' public record and associations? What true philosophies do we glimpse in unscripted moments? Aside from speechifying, what can the candidates bring to the glory and grandeur of the Island?

He says voting's going along just fine, about the same as last year.

Well.....I was hoping we'd do better than last year, not just as good as.

I have to leave for the day (Monday), but when I come back, I suppose franksolich will have to break some legs; we'll top last year, but I want us to top last year by a lot more.

Yep, the voting totals are going quite well.

But keep those votes coming! Things have really been heating up over the weekend. For whatever reason, a lot of folks prefer to send them to me via Private Message, which is perfectly acceptable.

I'm guessing--and don't tell me if I'm right or wrong, sir; I can wait--the votes for the top ten (actually, top twenty) primitives are so fragmented that there's no clear-cut front-runner, or even three or four front-runners.

That's just a guess; I really have no idea if it's accurate or not.

And so I'm also guessing there's going to be some ties, which to my knowledge has never happened before.

This of course means that EVERY VOTE COUNTS; EVERY VOTE MAKES A DIFFERENCE, about where a particular primitive is ranked.

added later: I'm thinking in particular of Pedro Picasso, the Atman primitive, who just missed being in the top ten last year, having to settle for eleventh place, the poetess laureatte CalPig primitive leapfrogging over him.

I was all set to go, with a great autobiography of Pedro Picasso (being the announcement that he was a top primitive), but because he'd slipped back to eleventh place, all he got was about two and a half paragraphs along with the other runners-up, while CalPig, as a top primitive, got a full-page, front-page, write-up.

(And yes, it did upset Pedro Picasso very much, who got all pissy because he was only a runner-up rather than a top primitive.)

One vote can make a difference.

I'd vote, but in all honesty I haven't been following this that closely. Can I give my vote to someone else? If I can, I'm giving it to Bally to cast as she wants, since she came up with that super-cool "regressive" coinage yesterday, or at least brought it to my attention enough to make me want to use it often.

Awwwww, that's sweet, I would have to decline because I don't feel as though I know the DU posters well enough, for all his hard work in putting this together I would gladly give frank the opportunity to cast an extra set of votes.

A year is a long time to track them, and there's always those who could've easily won at least something (Bouncy Ball, undergroundpanther, NanceGreggs) if they had posted more often. I really've been going back and forth on the Annie for Alan Grayson, but he's so new there and has a small post count. Also, I'm sure bestowing any attention on someone like that would just further feed his ego. And the Willie decision would be much harder if William Rivers Pitt himself had stayed banned. That being said, here goes:

This was a toss up between Bobo and the namesake for this award, Mr. William Pitt. I finally had to go with Pitt. It's hard to get invited back to the DUmp after being TS'd for merely disagreeing with a more favored DUmmie, but Pitt accomplished what NO one has done before. He physically threatened another (who no doubt deserved it), and was welcomed back with open arms. I wonder if mama Pitt opened the trust fund for Der Skimmer to allow this unprecedented move.

There are so many deserving primitives, but this year I will vote for the BOG. The amount of pretzel twisting they've done to continue to support Obama is truly amazing. Mental and physical gymnasts one and all. Whether it's rah rah Cha who thinks Barry is dreamy, to rancid Nance who doesn't know the term apologist, to Tridem, who actually told people this week it's disrespectful to refer to the Messiah as simply he, and to show appropriate homage, one must refer to Lord O as HE. This set of groupies is worse than any rock band follower I've ever witnessed.

Top DUmmie 2010

Alan Grayson - his attitude as an elected leader, as well as his groveling for campaign donations, earns him a spot on my list.

AnArmyVeteran - FAKE FAKE FAKE

CaliforniaPeggy - one of the phoniest primitives on the island. This idiot is the ultimate latte liberal in my book. She turned her back on a woman in need, someone she knew from the past, and then talked about it at the DUmp. She was ashamed that this person talked to her in front of her *gasp* friends. Wow- Piggy- your heart is indeed black and ugly. Blink, blink, blink.

DainBramaged - idiot. Not much else to say.

DefendandProtect - crazytown called and wants the inmate back.

EFerrari - Stupid is too good a word for this person. Her behavior stinks as bad as her dirty feet she displayed in a picture thread. Move to Venuezela you Yugo loving traitor.

Hannah Bell - Ah- Stalin's girlfriend is one I laugh at often. Who cares about the children as long as the workers are paid and are never fired? Workers of the World unite!

Proud2BlibKansan - I weep for the children who have to endure this angry femme. If my children we in her class, I would seriously consider homeschooling.
The Magistrate - Lover of all things Chavez. Won't allow any dissent regarding the great socialist revolutionary. His constant use of the word sir makes me want to cause harm to his person.

Undergroundpanther - I don't know whether to pity shim or laugh uncontrollably at every post he/she makes. The dichotomy displayed in its posts is completely lost on the subway kitty. This one absolutely rages with hate for anyone with any amount of money, as well as any conservative, rich or poor. It feels absolutely no qualms in using government money for boob removal, and spends money it doesn't have on tattoos. I still can't understand how this creature sees itself as gay, when it loves men. Why go to all the trouble of making itself a man to love men, when being a woman who loves men is the norm? I guess it's just not wacky enough.

I want to thank our esteemed colleague djones520 at our old home, for running the voting thread there; when someone needs to come up to bat, djones520 has always pulled us through.
