What is this, Les Miserables?
Sadly, you are very close to the basic problem of their worldview. Most of them really do see things through a highly-unrealistic and hyper-dramatized lens, seeing themselves in the hyper-romanticized role of the suffering poor, and they really
do equate the American working class to the oppressed French poor, and corporations/Conservatives to the rich and heartless aristocracy.
Only an idiot with the most superficial and distorted knowledge of human affairs, modern history, and economics imaginable could really think this way, of course, which explains why the DUers so universally share this outlook.
