Per an old friend who trains some tech support group in India (he's from Michigan), the contract companies promise their employees will be fluent. Therefore, when I call and get someone I can't understand I ask for a manager. Can't understand them? I ask for their supervisor. And so on.
One company I dealt with had their employees choose "American" sounding names from a list. I call, a young woman answers "Helloo, my name is Chuck. How can I help you?" Me "Really? Your mother named you Charles?" Her "Noooo. My name is Chuck." "Spell it." "C-h-u-c-k." Other than her name being Chuck, she could answer my question, but my corporate people did tell the IT contractors they might want to make a Boy list and a Girl list of names.
We ran into ones named MaryAnn (after the Hindi goddess of apple pie, I'm thinking), Robert... yeah, right.
