Ah, but when those panels look at the evidence and decide that cancer caused by smoking weed is so expensive to treat that it isn't fiscally responsible to include it in Obamacare, those poor DUmmies will have lost both their free pony and their free healthcare.
Uh uh.
But the primitives already lost; medical science can't cure
all, and never will.
You're of course familiar, madam, with Michaelangelo's paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome, and I'm thinking here of the "Last Judgement" part.
When it comes time to expand that chapel--despite the primitives's greatest hopes, Christianity is very much alive and growing and flourishing. most remarkably in the brown and black and yellow worlds--I think that mural needs an addition.
I'm thinking of a panorama where there's all these ageing pot-bellied balding hippies grimacing and angrily shaking their fists at their false gods of science, technology, and medicine, which not only failed to keep them young forever, but failed to keep them alive forever.
Science, technology, and medicine are a very good tool to have, but they aren't
all that there is. And without a certain something else involved in their application, it's all in vain.
