I'll be having Thanksgiving Day brunch with the wife, daughter and grandbaby then onto Disneyland to shoot tonight's show.  We are taking the weekend off to head to Santa Barbara with my surfing buddys for our annual Thanksgiving surf strip.  Not looking forward to the cold water, but it will be nice to get away for a few days.

Sounds fun!  We need to take our daughter out to Disneyland soon.  :)

I'm at home with my rib roast, green been casserole, roasted potatoes, and cranberry sauce.  Should be a good meal.

French's fried onions don't taste so good right out of the can.  I recommend having the deli slice your onion for you (1/16-inch), flouring, and frying them yourself.

Why wouldn't you slice them yourself?

Because I have crap knives that suck and didn't feel like doing the work.

I think the deli was closed.  I didn't make a whole lot of plans for today and didn't start shopping until noon.  As long as I get to eat today, I'm happy.  No big deal.

It's a week early, but one has the impression there's many who are taking off early, for Thanksgiving.

As in years past, conservativecave appreciates members here letting everyone know that in real life, they're taking off for the holiday, and won't be around here for a few days.

Family can really interfere with being here.

Thanksgiving Day is usually one of the slowest days of the year on conservativecave, and those motley few of us hanging around, it's nice to know who's here, and who's not.

Hia Frank!  I hope you have a good holiday! Our big meal sucked, pretty much.  The only leftover that was any good was the bird.

Mashed potatos were lumpy and runny.  Dressing was really BAD and soupy - gravy was tasteless - and green bean casserole was awful because I didn't cook the frozen beans first!

Heehee! Hope you enjoyed a better meal!

Too many cooks in my kitchen today.

Ah, the holidays at D-Land.  Save me a turkey leg or a chimichanga.

Sounds like you took cooking lessons from me JLO.

I solve that problem every year,  I do the prep and Hubby does all else-Turkey-stuffing --gravy . He  allows me to peel anything that needs peeling.

Left overs are my favorite part of the holidays as  All the fixens seem to taste better after they have sat in the fridge for a while.

This year with all the goings on he had to remind me to set the extra place setting for remembrance of the Military man/woman that will never be able to join us,  that will not ever have Thinksgiving again.

Big family squabble over my tradition of years, some simply do not understand but a few do, they at first tear up when they see the setting but then forget it is there.

Yup-o, crazy old lady that I am, if next year I find myself living under a bridge somewhere with a baloney sandwitch for my Thanksgiving meal, there will be an extra Dixie cup and a crust of bread there in remembrance for those that died for my freedom and hope they may have enjoyed spending a meal with a crazy lady.

Wow, what a great tradition - thanks for sharing the idea!
