Sonic is awesome, but In N Out is better.

Sonic is okay... I prefer Steak 'n Shake.  Never had In 'n Out.

You are seriously missing out.  You have to come to the west coast to get some.

To the best of my knowledge, I have never met a CCer IRL.  Bummer.

Whoever hasn't had In & Out needs to come out to Las Vegas... just for their food.  I'm not even kidding.  It's so yummy.

Hey, EC, I spent Twenty years USN. I've had burgers from coast to coast and even overseas...... In & Out are OK, but they're regional, as is most of the rest. This HAS been hammered to death as Chris said....

But I'm still a "newbie"  ;)

In & Out is the best that I've ever had so far.  I don't get around much anymore.  Maybe one day I'll have something better.

No, Not always....... The Whataburger in San Angelo was painfully slow....  Around here,we have Watson's, which is an OKie based company. They're pretty decent, but have a tendency to cook their burgers to death. My fav was an old A&W that used to be here.  It doesn't exist any more (and hasn't for years). If I have a fallback option, it's usually Burger King.... (depends on where I am)

Yeah, WTF is up with people cooking hamburger to death these days?  I'm all about the midwest beef but I went to a place in Cedar Rapids, not realizing that pretty much EVERYONE cooks their beef to medium-well or worse!

I felt like I was trying to chew through a hockey puck.  From then on out the rest of this trip, I specified that I wanted my burgers cooked medium-RARE.  Much better after that.

And given the fact that I get out to Vegas at least once a year, I'd be cool with a meetup for a night of debauchery at the Venetian, etc., or the casino that has the "short person" (can't say midget now, must be PC) who alternates being on the strip getting people inside or walking on the bar pouring shots into people's mouths...(At Flamingo's/Bill's)...

Good luck on that!! I like my meat RARE to Med Rare at most. Yet, because the restaurants apparently purchase mediocre ground beef, they cook it to death because they're afraid that someone might get sick from eColi or whatever. It's gotten to the point where I don't trust ground beef, either, unless I grind it myself. Too many illegals working at the processing plants and they just don't GAF about what they produce. Then, there's they modern way that the processing plants make ground beef. Something about heating it up to get it off the bone and then grinding it.

I did that trip a couple times in college.  It sucked then, and I imagine it would suck even worse now.

Try DFW to San Diego or Norfolk, Va to DFW........ 1500 miles, one way, from either city. I've done those trips a number of times. However, I was younger and that didn't bother me. The longest trip I recently have taken was from Minneapolis to Denison, TX and that was almost three years ago, now. That was only 900 miles (approx)

Yep, younger being the key word.

I used to drive back & forth from Des Moines to Fort Worth regularly when I was in college.  Approximately 740 miles, I-35 the entire way.  I could still do that in my sleep.

I did El Paso to Texarkana in one sitting once. That was a pretty long day.

It was part of a Santa Cruz CA to NW Vermont trip. Made that trip twice, first time through the Texas panhandle, second time the long way across Texas.
