Bananas at Walmart are now 47 cents a pound, rather than 38 cents a pound.

Inflation.  What ya gonna do?

Bananas aren't what concerns me as much as grain and oil.

I like to drive, drink beer and to eat steak.

Both of those commodities rising means the less of that we can all do.

I was just pointing out a very obvious price hike.  Walmart always had good, cheap bananas.  Now they are good and a bit more expensive.

Exactly. Everyone's "level of living" will have to be adjusted to this rising commodities costs.
I do not like it. :censored:

I am concerned about the rising price of cotton.  The rest as well.  Especially the beer and steak.  Also the driving, but not at the same time.

Cotton is one to be watched closely. China has been buying cotton.

As an added bonus when fuel goes up that will cause prices on other commodities to go up even more. So most commodities will have 2 reasons to go up.

Yup. I am going to take advantage of any sales, for things I need, or might need as soon as I can.

Oh I haven't given up, I still hold out hope the tea party got the GOP's attention and we can save the Republic yet.

In the meantime it's going to get worse. I honesty believe the dems will do their best to keep the economy in the shitter so in 2012 they can claim we did nothing to fix it.

When the socialists in Europe tell us we are spending too much that says something.  :-)

Stock up on your sugar.

I heard on Glenn Beck today that Spooky Dude bought a whole bunch of land for sugar cane.  We don't use a ton of sugar in our household, but it would probably be smart to grab a few extra bags while you're out.

It's hard to listen to him lately but, he seems to be right.

The CME doubled the margin account requirements on Friday.

The CME is trying to prevent margin bets, they can't stop hard money bets and since the Fed just printed 600 billion for the people that do that type of activity.....

I've been wanting to try some Kona for a long time. Maybe I'll find the courage to get up off my wallet for it soon. :-)

My wife just recently bought one of those Keurig single-cup machines that brews from the little individual "K-cup" containers. It's been fun experimenting with all the different brands that came with it in the sampler pack.

DH and I love our Keurig brewer!  We order online and get it a little cheaper than in the stores here, plus no tax and a 20% discount for being excellent and repeat offenders, um, customers, PLUS free shipping and bonus sample packs depending on how much we spend.
We like to experiment with the different kinds as well, but it basically comes down to a good cup of regular medium to bold coffee.
I figure it costs us roughly 60 cents a cup and tastes a heck of alot better than Starbucks, of which there are at least three in our little mini city.  All located inside grocery or department stores and always full of customers. :???:

If I deviate from my humble cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee I get it from these guys http://www.bocajava.com/ . The coffee is great and for every two bags you buy they send one to our troops overseas. They also match donations if you want to give directly.
I signed DH up for their Operation Million Cup and they sent him a huge box brimming with free coffee. http://www.bocajava.com/learn/troops/index.jsp. Great company that supports the troops!
