Unlike in most parts of the country, you don't sit in a tree stand and wait for the deer to come to you out here in Western Nebraska. This is looking south towards the Niobrara River, about 15 miles west of Merriman, NE and 12 miles south.

We got the first deer about a further 15 miles south, deep in the Sand Hills. We stepped off the range and it was a tad under 250 yards. The second deer we go off a corn pivot (An irrigation circle) at about 200 yards. The 30.06, using 180 grain rounds, dropped them in their tracts.
I have to head back this morning to my 'real' life. We have Thanksgiving Dinner plans at the Base Chief Master Sergeant's house, or whatever you zoomies cal the Post Command Sergeant Major. Then I am off for fun and adventure for two weeks before Christmas.

Got to get the tree and stuff set up. Here, Hobgoblins the Cat sits in her tree stand waiting for the big Whitetail to walk by.
