Black Friday
« on: November 12, 2010, 12:33:08 AM »
The Black Friday ad for Toys R Us has leaked and I'm shopping there on Thanksgiving night.  The sale begins at 10pm.... and continues on Friday & Saturday.

Since I have never tackled Black Friday psychos, what do I need to do?  Do I need a weapon?  I'm thinking rocket launcher or brass knuckles, perhaps?  But in all seriousness, any words of advice other than "Don't do it."?

There are about six things I want to get my daughter.

I have a four-day weekend for Thanksgiving.  I'm not doing anything except sleeping and eating.

I have been doing Black Friday forever.  Never had a problem with "psychos."     Everyone waiting in line is usually friendly and sometimes fun to wait with.    I guess it depends what part of the country you live in.    I did TRU one year, but the store was too small to hold the amount of people in line, so I never did it again.

I notice a great deal of stores are opening Thanksgiving night, which is interesting.

My X-Mas list consists of 3 people: Me, myself, and I.  I'm treating myself when I get back from the frozen tundra.

Everyone else gets cards.  Hell, that's more than I get from them.

I have never participated in Black Friday and never will.  I don't even go to malls.  I did go to Toys R Us last Friday night, to shop for my nephew.  I went after I had been at Happy Hour for a while, so it wasn't that bad.

My SIL gets up at 4:00 am to hit the stores on Black Friday.  There is nothing I need bad enough, on Black Friday, or Tax-Free Weekend that would get me to the store and deal with the people.  Ew.

I have three people, too. Inga, my daughter, & myself. I'll be lucky to get a phone call from my daughter, perhaps a card.

I went last year right before the sales ended and got what I wanted.  If you don't want the really high end stuff you are usually OK.  One year I went to Toys R Us right before the sale started and I was the only one in line.  That was freaking awesome!  Everyone went to the HUGE Toys R Us store up the road and ignored the little store.

I'll probably be safe doing the same thing.

I want to get her the following for sure:

- Rock N Ride Pony - $23.99
- Dream Dazzlers Fabulous Dress Up Trunk - $19.99
- VTECH Paint & Learn Art Easel - $12.49
- Just Like Home - My Cleaning Trolley - $19.99

Those are all things she would enjoy...  I hope!
