First a quick apology in advance for any problems that may occur over the next few days, since moderator switches are usually a little chaotic. Thank you for your understanding.

I moderated at a site that had roughly the same daily traffic DU has and we did it with 8 people. Of course they weren't raving lunatics so that may be why we did so much better.  :-)

Like all things DUmp related there is a certain amount of dishonesty.
Lithos is listed as a new moderator but has been one for as long as I have wandered the island.
It is a mod for every hidden topic forum there is and without going to look suspect several others are too,just don`t recognize the names right off.

I can`t remember seeing any of the retiring ones ever taking an action but certainly possible have missed it.
What you have is a list of permanent moderators in name only mixed with revolving ones to give the impression that it is a HUGE forum.
Everything is about deceit.

You probably didn't feel the need to ban every single poster who didn't meet a very narrow set of criteria, either.

Keeping the Echo Chamber on message and ignorant about opposing points of view takes a lot of watchful eyes and fingers poised over the ban button. Mustn't let the Hivemind be exposed to the truth.

It would be interesting to know just how many people are banned on an average day at DU.

cbayer has been one for quite some time.  Does Skinner need all of these so he can have at least one in every time zone so someone is always on duty?

I just looked at the list of "Topic" moderators and it seems to be the list of new ones posted.
Of course what is one of the requirements...being a donor unless I am mistaken and will stand corrected if so.

In other words,you want to be a mod,pony up and then will have the badge for a while.

Remember, my fellow alum Skins is a "control freak," although the more he tries to control, the less control he has.

I'm sure Skins's island needs at least half a dozen moderators on duty at all times, to quickly snatch up and hide campfires that make Skins's island look bad, or attract the attention of the authorities.

Or, in the case of the imperious primitive, the "The empressof all" primitive, to quickly delete any campfires that mention this place, or the particular name of one of its members, before we can spot it.

There's much that gets posted on Skins's island, but which is erased within seconds, so we never see it.

greatauntoftriplets, Lithos, maddezmom, pinto  (gay representative), proud patriot, rasputin1952,The empressof all (female canine representative),undergroundrailroad (black representative) have been moderators for several years.  The unhappycamper (military veteran representative) apparently takes his summers off.  It's sort of sad to think of people having so little substance to their lives that they freely give the bulk of their limited time on this earth to so little purpose.

They do have their own little forum where they can bitch about the membership.  Maybe that's all these pathetic clods have that passes for a social life.

Imagine going to the zoo, and noticing some of the monkeys get to wear special hats. Those are the moderators.
