Bush Interview on Rush

Bush had his first public interview in a long time on Rush's show. It was pretty generic, but I wanted to comment on one thing.

Rush asked Bush if, knowing what he knows now, he would have authorized the original TARP bills. Bush said he would have, based upon the knowledge of his advisors and trying to save the country from "the next Great Depression." I was disappointed that Rush didn't continue this line of inquiry. I realize this was more or less a softball interview, but I expected more from Rush based upon the primary issue (other than Obamacare) that the Tea Party regaled against in the first place.

Bush: Strong on Defense, Good ideas on tax cuts, but obviously a RINO when the money is on the line.

I will say at least Bush wanted to save the country not destroy it.

I haven't done any research on it, yet, but heard on the radio that there were some significant differences between Bush's TARP and what Obama did...including things like repayment versus handout, remaining a private firm versus government takeover, etc.
 
Does anyone know offhand about this?  (Yes, I'm lazy tonight.)

I know that President Bush didn't tell the banks what they could pay their employees like Obumbler did.

Some financial institutions were forced to take the money whether they wanted to or not.

you have to put his actions into context.  every economist in the world was saying that the end was looming.

and TARP, properly understood, was NOT an expense, in the strictest accounting sense.  it was permission to increase the debt.

TARP gets a bad rap.  But it was probably the right move at the time.
