WTF is this "TopGear - America" Bullsh*t?!?!?
« on: November 08, 2010, 09:23:12 AM »
Look, I love the Camaro and GTO as much as the next guy, but where the HELL does the History Channel (they of the Zinn bitchfest, "People's History of The US" bullshit) get off trying to duplicate a show as iconic and singurlarly brilliant in it's pureness as BBC's TopGear?!?!? Who at the BBC needs to have their head pulled out of their ass for even agreeing to this abortion of an idea in the first place???

From the trailer we saw, it looks to be hosted by a bunch of douchebags who fall somewhere between the Jackass cast and the two guys from Mythbusters.

It's really quite simple...

If it ain't Clarkson, May, Hammond, it ain't shit. Call me an anglophilem but didn't we learn anything from that "Weakest Link" train wreck???

My favorite quote from the teaser trailer:

Quote
I just drove a Lamborghini 190 MPH!!!!!

Oh yeah, asswipe? Captain Slow drove a Bugatti Veyron 225 MPH. Suck it, you morons...

There. I feel better now.

Dude.  I just posted this as my FB status.  "doesn't think the American Top Gear is going to be as entertaining as the British Top Gear."

So, one of the dudes is an actor, one is a NASCAR guy, and the other a Rally guy, right?

How many fast cars are out there?  Haven't we seen them already????

I saw that episode yesterday.  Is Jeremy the only one that hasn't driven the Veyron?  I don't recall him in one, but I could be mistaken.

And, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Tom Cruise was not a pud on the show.  That was pretty nifty.

Yeah, I was completely impressed with Cruise's humility, as well as Diaz's geniune thirll at being on the show.

I especially loved Jeremy's total sudden love of the Prius while he was throwing himself at her.  :rotf:

Yeah, and unfortunately, that's the last show of this season!!!  :banghead:

We still haven't been able to figure out why this season was only 6 episodes long. :-(

Didn't want to compete with the Yanks?  Doubtful.  Their seasons are always squirrely.  Hopefully they will show the Oliver episode in repeats.  I would love to have that one recorded.

You really need to see about getting yourself an Apple TV...

As I said earlier, I buy the season pass for this show each season, and end up with the entire season on my laptop. Plus, each episode they show you the 15-20 minutes of footage BBC America DOESN'T show you on cable.

Worth every penny, Deb. The guy needs to get it for you for Christmas. Well, that and a $50 iTunes gift card so you can buy the previous seasons. :-)

You're a chick. Use the tools God gave ya, for pete's sake!  :-)

I will have to buy it my own dang self.  :(  I only get "practical" gifts for Christmas.  But, I might just get some gift cards and I can pool them together to get my own!   :-)

I'm torn on the new TG.  I'll wait and see, but it doesn't look very promising.

Kinda wish they had stuck with Adam Carolla.  I have no idea who these three metrosexual-looking strangers are.

Sigh.  Back to the OP.  HWC, I was just talking to one of my co-workers about the very same thing.  Turns out he watches BBC Top Gear "occasionally"  but he is super "stoked" to watch the American Top Gear, because they are gonna have a NASCAR side.
