Sen.-elect Paul: GOP must consider military cuts
By AP | Published: 10:36 AM 11/07/2010    | Updated: 10:38 AM 11/07/2010

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Sen.-elect Rand Paul says GOP lawmakers must be open to cutting military spending as Congress tries to reduce government spending.

The tea party favorite from Kentucky says compromise with Democrats over where to cut spending must include the military as well as social programs. Paul says all government spending must be “on the table.”

Paul tells ABC’s “This Week” that he supports a constitutional amendment calling for a balanced budget.

What do you expet when you study at the right had of Teh Crazy.

Note to Dr. Nutz, Jr.  The people of the Bluegrass State did NOT elect you to office so that you could suddenly start using words like "compromise" with the Democrats.
Reaching a hand across the aisle to these Socialists only ensures you end up with A BLOODY STUMP!

Not to mention that the Defense budget is already a tiny pice of the GDP as it is.

You want to start cutting places?  Start with welfare and food stamps and the REAL areas that are dragging down the economy.

Ferget it, people--this is the "dark side" of the Tea Party.

If anyone is surprised by this he haven't been paying attention.  :-)

I don't mind some cuts to the defense budget if in fact all it is, is cutting out some of the red tape and bureaucratic bullshit. As long as the cuts do not affect the pay of our service members and their readiness I'm fine with it. Cutting it just to cut it I'm not ok with.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Not real surprising news.  At the same time, some military spending cuts are practically inevitable in an austere fiscal environment.  Just for one example, our pratice of rotating entire major units into and out of the combat theaters annually instead of using enduring units that people come to and go from has allowed about every major maneuver formation to get its crack at a combat patch, but there has been some colossal financial waste involved in it.

The AF has worked on a fixed rotation forever.    Long term for retaining personnel purposes it is a good practice.

Not sure if it is still a problem, but I did remember problems of Army/Marine units taking forever and a day to be ready to mobilize --- they need to be ready to go at any given moment, always.    The majority of flight crews (AD and Guard/Reserve) are always combat ready so if they get the call in the middle of the night they can leave by dawn.

That needs to be fixed if it hasn't already.

I don't know about the Army, but I do know that 2 MEU's are deployed at all times ready to go at the drop of the hat.

Regardless, Dr. Nutz Jr. needs to STFU
