Rangel's New Rush

Quote
Oh, so now he’s in a hurry.
Following a two-year probe, Rep. Charlie Rangel, “dean” of the New York congressional delegation, reportedly now suddenly wants to face his accusers quickly and to put all of his legal woes to rest at an upcoming House ethics committee trial.

This, though he hasn’t said boo about the trial in weeks — even as House Democrats staged a 60-day game of stall-ball to stave off any pre-election, Rangel-related embarrassing publicity. What a difference an Election Day makes, huh?
Rangel no doubt fears that if his 13-count ethics trial isn’t over by year’s end, the whole process can be restarted — with Republicans running the show come January.

Yes, the ethics committee is always equally divided — but the fact that a Republican will be chairman means that the going could get, uh, a bit tougher for good-time Charlie.

So, this time, Dems are expected to meet the scheduled trial date, set for Nov. 15 — and never mind all those complications from Rangel’s split last month with his longtime team of lawyers.

Neither side, by the way, explained why the legal team was leaving. But, as Politico reported, Rangel — who’s been paying his legal fees with campaign funds — saw his once-prodigious ability to raise money dry up after he lost his chairmanship of the House Ways & Means Committee following an earlier ethics complaint.

In the limited time a lame-duck Congress has to transact necessary business, there is no way in Hell this should be allowed.  With any luck or foresight, there are more charges waiting to land on his ass along about the fourth week of January.

I'm still amazed this clown isn't behind bars. At least, out of work.  :banghead:
