Press release by Phil Griffin, from PuffingToke Press

STATEMENT REGARDING KEITH OLBERMANN - SUNDAY, NOV. 7

From Phil Griffin, President of MSNBC:

After several days of deliberation and discussion, I have determined that suspending Keith through and including Monday night's program is an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy. We look forward to having him back on the air Tuesday night.

Good, now we can bat him around a bit more. I was actually disappointed when he was "suspended" for what I consider a very stupid reason, given his level of rancor in the first place. He could give 10 million bucks to a candidate and not help him any more than with his slanted stories.

Olbermann suspension ends Tuesday
« Reply #53 on: November 07, 2010, 09:16:50 PM »
TWO days?  two WHOLE days?  NPR fired the black dude for admitting that he got nervous on airplanes.  olbermaniac funds dems political candidates, thus destroying whatever shreds of journalistic credibility that either he or PMSNBC ever had to begin with, and he gets two days.

these liberal organizations need racial sensitivity training.  :whistling:    :-)

Olbermann suspension ends Tuesday

NEW YORK -- MSNBC says Keith Olbermann will be back on the air Tuesday, ending his suspension for violating NBC's rules against making political donations.

MSNBC's chief executive Phil Griffin said late Sunday that after several days of deliberation, he had determined that two days off the air was "an appropriate punishment for his violation of our policy."

The left-leaning cable network's most popular personality acknowledged donating $2,400 apiece to the campaigns of Kentucky Senate candidate Jack Conway and Arizona Reps. Raul Grijalva and Gabrielle Giffords. NBC News prohibits its employees from making political donations unless an exception is granted in advance by the network news president. In this case, Olbermann's bosses didn't know about them until being informed by a reporter

I think a clock has been set for the total, and utter demise of MESSNBC. I don't know when. I don't know how, but I think the proverbial clock has been set with this incredible faux pas.

This kind of shit isn't going to bring all of NBC Corp down, I don't think, but the sister station's days/weeks/months are numbered.

Just saw this at Hot Air, a farce and a publicity stunt? :

http://hotair.com/archives/2010/11/08/olbermann-returns-after-two-nights-off-on-tuesday/

per Morrissey:

Quote
Obviously, ethics had nothing to do with it.  Why did Griffin go through this little farce?  He wanted to use it to supposedly position MSNBC as somehow more journalistically pure than Fox News, and to give the channel’s defenders a talking point after one of the most embarrassing displays in American telejournalism on Tuesday night.  Olbermann, who kept oddly quiet during his hours in the wilderness, presumably knew better what was happening than the “Free Keith” contingent who demanded that Griffin reverse his decision and who worried that Olbermann’s right to free speech was somehow threatened.
Basically, this was nothing more than a farcical publicity stunt, and a pleasant long weekend for the supposed perp/victim.

I just hope the Free Keith contingent doesn't feel empowered....lol.

Mea Culpa: I Put Keith Olbermann on National TV

I’m not sure how he morphed into the bitter-sounding, hate-mongering name-caller he’s become, but I’m sorry he did. I liked the guy, and he was always a good guest. Maybe it’s just show business and trying to find a place in it and building an audience, but I don’t know. We were never friends away from the show, so I can’t even guess what drives him.

I do know that to whatever extent the political well has been poisoned, Keith has dumped more than his share of venom into the water.
