3. Isn't it standard for the speaker to get a plane?

I thought the Air Force suggested upgrading her because of the distance...

4. He should be able to get by with a smaller plane.

Ohio's a short flight from DC. The whole purpose of the big plane for Pelosi was so she could get home without refueling, for security reasons. It was the Chimp/Chertoff Homeland Security department who made that rule, and unlike most of the crap they came up with, it actually made some sense (at least to those who are paranoid about that kind of thing.)

17. Of course

We'll probably hear nothing about it from the media. I'm afraid these next 2 years Boehner amd his ilk will have the attitude towards the electorate of "You gave us ours, screw you now....until election season 2012, that is". Any of these new congressmen that go to Washington think they're going to shake DC up, they're crazy. Once they see how the GOP's game is played, they'll be right in bed with them.

That won't work. All of the clunkers have a "obama" sticker on the bumper.

So much wrong i that thread.  Pelosi demanded a bigger plane than the AF standard gave to the Speaker because she didn't want to stop at an AF Base in flyover country.  She also burned through $100K of booze in 100 weeks on that party machine.  I'm sure that The new speaker will be back to a Gulf Stream.

When you do the math, that is $1,000 per week for booze for 100 weeks. For one politician. Yes, I know it got her entourage drunk too but that is outrageous!

Stinky sure seems to have a chip on his shoulder.  I've noticed a certain smugness in his posts whenever someone disagrees with him.

He's also a militant liberal and earlier today he actually made the case that MSNBC is somehow subtly right leaning-or takes a cue from the right.

His name also sucks.

He may get my vote for top primitive.  Ironically, in that "election", I vote far left.

One of the ways I use when I want to understand someone--someone in either real life or on the internet or on Skins's island--is that I read up on the history and culture of the time and place in which that particular person was born and raised.

It's not that hard to do, and besides, I (usually) have the time.

Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the sparkling husband primitive was born (or moved there while still an infant) in 1946 (it may have been 1947, but all evidence says 1946, perhaps even 1945), during the last half of the 1940s, all of the 1950s, and the first half of the 1960s, was a, uh, rather interesting place to grow up.

Especially if one were a male of Italian derivation.

It was the sort of thing that would turn one into either (a) an authentic tough guy, a throat-cutter, or (b) a sissy, a wimp.

The sparkling husband primitive was in the U.S. Navy 1965-1967, in a boat off the shore of South Carolina.  I have no idea why the sparkling husband primitive stayed in the Navy only two years; it seems to me that was the only intelligent thing he ever did in his life, and that if he had stayed there, he would be a Fleet Commander by now.

But we all make wrong turns in life, and nonetheless, one is grateful to the sparkling husband primitive for having defended our shores, so one could, as a little lad at the time, grow up in safety and serenity--and franksolich is sincere, utterly sincere, in his gratitude to the sparkling husband primitive for his service.

It should be no surprise that the sparkling husband primitive ended up in Baltimore, as there were close, tight-knit, connections between the, uh, Italian-derived of Bridgeport, Connecticut and their similarly-derived friends in Baltimore, Maryland, at the time ruled over by Thomas D'Alessandro, mayor and congressman.

It was during the 1970s that the D'Alessandro operations were moved to San Francisco, California.

In case one does not know this, Bela Pelosi is the daughter of Thomas D'Alessandro.

It's always interesting, watching the sparkling husband primitive's "business trips"--most of the time (not all the time, but much of the time), he goes to San Francisco, to meet with "business associates" named Moe and Izzy and Sal and Manny and Al and Lucky.

The modesty of the sparkling husband primitive's personal life-style says much, perhaps a little too much.

If I might be able to humbly add a personal note Frank, and one several here are familiar with.

Bridgeport is in the shadow of NYC,almost could be considered a suburb of the City.
As it is,in that entire area life moves at a frantic pace, there is always something going on and something to do.
I can`t speak for the era Stinky grew up in but in dealing with down state and CT. transplants it breeds into them an urgency in every desire...whatever it is on the mind HAS to happen NOW!!!.

Never fair to broad brush an entire sub species of humanity but easy to see why so many never develop past DUmmy and helps to make the urban lefts childish outrages at a small breeze in the air a bit understandable.

Perhaps "in context" would be a more appropriate term.

Yes, and I thank you, Carl, sir.

This sense of urgency for "instant gratitification," which was definitely in the air of post-war Bridgeport, Connecticut.....and especially among males of, uh, ethnicity.

One has the sense the sparkling husband primitive himself was an object of instant gratification himself, that he got beat up a lot by other kids.

You mean like the one that the Speaker of the House used BEFORE pelosi assumed her throne?

A little bit of education for the lurking DUmmies here to take back to the island.  The jet she refused to use was an Air Force VC-20.  The GUlfstream GIII to you and me.

What she commandeered...was the USAF VC-32...a Boeing 757 jetliner.  This jet is reserved under most circumstances for Presidential Cabinent  members...SecState...SecDef etc.  It also serves as Air Force Two and sometimes as Air Force One if the bigger 747 can't land on the runway.

So what we had here was an egotostical power grab by Stretch Pelosi to use an aircraft she wasn't truly authorized to use in an attempt to tell the Republicans that SHE was the one with the power not them.

And not only that she thumbed her nose at DoD regulations on who could ride in the aircraft with her and under what conditions.

If Speaker Bohener elects to resume using the VC-20 that's fine with me.  Prior to 9/11 the Speaker normally flew commercial anyway.  But because of 9/11 they were offered a jet for security reasons.

You are a racist.

Click original DU link.  It's been edited.

You know, I dislike it intensely when they do that.

The primitives on Skins's island so passionately want to jab back at us, and can't, excepting on split-second things that are erased before my fellow alum Skins spots them.

Are you aware, madam, that to mention P-J Comix by name on Skins's island is okay, but not franksolich?

I could never figure that out.

P-J Comix, with his most-excellent DUmmie FUnnies on freerepublic, has done more to expose the stupidity of the primitives, and Skins's island itself, than franksolich could ever do in ten lifetimes.  P-J Comix is a genius, a sheer genius, at biting sarcasm and mockery.

It's okay however to mention his name on Skins's island, but not franksolich's.

One wonders why this is, especially considering the bond that exists between my fellow alum Skins and myself; the old school tie.

There were a couple of radio comedy shows during the 1930s and 1940s, each of them featuring a top-notch comedian--Jack Benny and Fred Allen, I think, but don't take my word for it--and one of their gags was a "feud" between them.

I always wanted to do something like this, run a "feud" with a primitive from Skins's island, he at his end and I at this end.  For a while, it looked as if Pedro Picasso, the "Atman" primitive, and franksolich might get this sort of thing going, but because of my fellow alum's rigorous censorship of my name, it was sporadic and short-lived.

Of course, the primitives are hardly the brightest bulb in the room; it is possible to do such a thing, in a "code" that evades the scrutiny of Skins.

They did manage to do it during the Scamdal, when my fellow alum forbade discussion of that topic, and the Andyite primitives exchanged recipes for chicken soup in the cooking-and-baking forum--recipes and ingredients which were really "code" commenting about the Scamdal.

The primitives aren't as bright as they were a mere five and a half years ago, alas.

Well they don't have much a sense of humor about themselves and apparently your fellow alum Skins feels a bit threatened by you.

They typically aren't very friendly so they really can't participate in friendly banter or competition.
