LOWER TRURO — They won $11.2 million from a lottery ticket in July. And now every penny is gone. But Allen and Violet Large didn’t spend any of it on themselves. And that’s just the way they like it.

"That money that we won was nothing," said Allen, choking back tears. "We have each other."

Violet has been through surgery and finished her last chemotherapy treatment a week ago.

"All the money in the world can’t buy your health," he said.

"We’re the lucky ones," Violet said. "I have no complaints."

These folks decided for themselves the right course of action for their circumstances, and followed through.

True, but people appreciate money during hard times more than when things are going well.  I've seen a couple news articles about charitable giving being down this year.

I'm sure the new regulations and tax codes had nothing to do with it. ::)

The Government took 40% right off the top. You can rest assured. If I ever won THAT much, I could spend probably a Million, maybe two on myself & Inga and the rest MIGHT go to some family or more than likely, my favorite charities.
