I don't appreciate his conclusion at the end because I am firmly convinced that MUCH more needs to be done than telling gay kids "It gets better" (barf), but what he brings up is a sad truth....He is talking about what President John Kennedy said...Raw hatred may actually help the causeBy Leonard Pitts Jr.lpitts@miamiherald.com (edit)In a meeting at the White House, the president told civil rights leaders they ought not be too hard on Bull Connor. Connor, he said with a grin, “has done as much for civil rights as Abraham Lincoln.â€(edit)It had previously been possible for segregationists to wrap their cause in dry euphemism. They framed themselves as defenders of constitutional principle — “states’ rights.†They argued that requiring businesses to serve African Americans violated private property rights. But that footage outraged the world, awakened the nation and hastened civil rights legislation. The president’s point was that none of it would have happened but for Birmingham’s top cop, who punctured dry euphemism with the rawness of his hatred and forced people to finally see. Every once in awhile, the battle for human rights needs a Bull Connor. The battle against the bullying of gay kids may have just found one.Read more: http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/10/30/1898766/raw-hatre... He goes on to report the very ugly words of a homophobe he is likening to Bull Connor. IMO, a column worth reading, even it if makes one throw up.

soon as you find your manhood all else falls into place.
If Ft. Hood was "workplace violence," then the Hindenburg was an air show.
I don't know if sand glows in the dark, but we're gonna find out.
We should stay tuned to this one.
MineralMan (1000+ posts) Tue Nov-02-10 04:58 PMResponse to Reply #23. I was just wondering how things were at your polling place. There have been problems at many of them. Mine was OK, but there are some others in Minnesota where teabaggers have shown up. When that happens, what your thread is about is pertinent, don't you think? But, it's OK if you don't want to say what your polling place was like. Doesn't matter, really. I just thought it would be interesting. Lots of DUers are sharing their experiences today.

Bobo must be a lot of fun at cocktail parties.
Oh no. I don't believe she is able to associate with humans without some kind of physical abuse taking place. What human has the kind of restraint that they can be in a room with her for more than 10 minutes without knocking her out? I know it's wrong, but EVERY human being has his/her limit.
I suppose passing a bottle of Thunderbird around a trash barrel fire can be spun as a cocktail party..... ;D
