US to spend $200 mn a day on Obama's Mumbai visit
« on: November 02, 2010, 04:08:25 PM »
Quote
Mumbai:  The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama's visit to the city.

"The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit," a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

"Except for personnel providing immediate security to the President, the US officials may not be allowed to carry weapons. The state police is competent to take care of the security measures and they would be piloting the Presidential convoy," the official said on condition of anonymity.

That MIGHT be palatable .... no, not really.

This story says $200 Million!  What the hell.  It has to be a typo.  $200 Million PER DAY??  How?

I think it had to be a typo also, but with Obama, who knows.

Nope, that was MY typo.  :P  $200 MILLION is pretty good coin for the Indians.

They could probably clean up the Ganges for that kind of money.

This man sickens me so much. I don't call him or consider him my president anyways.
I got this from the link below; A high-point of President Obama's visit to Mumbai is his meeting with the business community, later on November 6, at the Business and Entrepreneurship Summit, organised by the US-India Business Council (USIBC). President Obama is to give the special keynote address at the Summit.

Of course he's going to talk to them about business and entrepreneurship!!!

Think how much of American business is outsourced to India!!

We switched our internet provider last month when we moved. I've had to purchase a Netgear wireless router and adapter. So far, I've had to call tech support 4 times since. I'm calling Mumbai every single time. I can be computer challenged on a good day, want to know how frustrating it is when I can't even understand what the tech is trying to tell me to do, when I can't even understand his English?!

The reports I do for banks/lenders - at least 3 of the 3rd party companies that I do the work for - outsource to India. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to get someone in India to understand that just because my report does not fall within the mandatory comparable criteria guidelines, does not mean that my report is not correct? I'm the one who LIVES here!!! I would think I know more about what is comparable or not, than someone on the other side of the world who probably has NFI where the hell Tennessee is even located in the US!!

I have leased cars for years. 2 Jeeps and a Nissan....Customer Service is in India.

Think about how many Customer Service  800 #'s you call for one reason or another.....most of them are probably going to India.

India's economy is growing by leaps and bounds and has been for several years.

And now this trip of Obama's is going to pump in $200 mil PER DAY!!!!! That's bullshit!!

While I doubt the number is $200 mil per day, for 3000 individuals on this trip - $2 Mil a day is only an average of less than $700 a day, not an unrealistic amount for all the expenses involved in a presidential trip.

I think the bigger question is why is it necessary for him to travel with 3000 people?!?!?!?

Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Obama is trying to boost India's economy while trashing ours so it will be cheaper for companies to repatriate those jobs that have been outsourced.

The election didn't teach him a thing, did it?!?!?!?!? He still wants to act like a King, spend us peasant's money like there's no tomorrow. He doesn't care because he doesn't have to foot the bill. We NEED to end his rampant spending sprees. Take away his f'n checkbook!!

Worse - he sends us Hillary f***in' Clinton. The diplomatic equivalent of a turd in a brown paper sack.

How many of his toadies and fawning sycophants are going along for an all expenses paid Indian vacation ?

I saw Mike Huckabee on Fox last night, during the election results.

He, too, said that 3000 people were going to Mumbai, and that it was going to cost $200 million per day. I think it was Megyn Kelly that was interviewing him, and she did not question the numbers...so maybe they really are true.

If they are.....it is  disgusting - revolting - nauseating - and any other word you wish to put in there...tossing away of the American taxpayers money!! This country needs that money in so many different and better ways than for a president and his sycophants to visit India.

insert the "angry villagers" smiley right here!!

Sorry dude...... but it could have been worse, he could have sat it on fire. Think of the mess you would have had on your shoes.
