Schwarzenegger bans welfare cards at psychics

LOS ANGELES – Gov. Arnold Schwarzeneger says welfare recipients can no longer use state-issued debit cards at medical marijuana shops, psychics and other businesses whose services have been deemed "inconsistent with the intent" of the program.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Schwarzenegger sent a letter to county welfare directors on Monday announcing that ATMS and point-of-sale card readers in such businesses will be removed from the network that accepts California's Electronic Benefits Transfer cards.

Other businesses affected by the ban include bail bond establishments, bingo halls, cruise ships and tattoo parlors.

In June, Schwarzenegger barred welfare cards at casino ATMs following a Times report that CalWORKS cards were being used to withdraw cash in more than half the casinos in the state.

I've never been on Welfare, but if you are on it you aren't working, right?
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Poll question: Should welfare debit cards have any limitations on their useage?

If so, what and why?

Trying to make this inclusive for all thoughts, not limit to one category.
Poll result (28 votes)
Yes, there should be limitations.   (27 votes, 96%) Vote
No, there should be no limitations.   (1 votes, 4%) Vote

My psychic skills (no debit cards please) says there are going to be a lot of tombstones flying between those two polls. On top of the inevitable election night bannings DU is going to undergo a massive depopulation over the next 24 hours.

What boggles my mind is that this would have to be banned in the first place. Wouldn't there be restrictions on this from the get-go? Besides, those that are using psychics aren't getting their money's worth because they're still on welfare, haven't won the lottery and met the man/woman/confused/furry of their choice.

Don't forget, those debit cards could be used at casinos and bingo parlors up until recently.

Just remember that Kalifornia does not have a spending problem but a revenue problem.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

And I can't tell you how pleased I am that my tax dollars have been spent in such a way
