If anyone nails the situation for the Dems, it's the Onion.

Democrats: 'If We're Gonna Lose, Let's Go Down Running Away From Every Legislative Accomplishment We've Made'

October 27, 2010 | ISSUE 46•43

WASHINGTON—Conceding almost certain Republican gains in next month's crucial midterm elections, Democratic lawmakers vowed Tuesday not to give up without making one final push to ensure their party runs away from every major legislative victory of the past two years.

Party leaders told reporters that regardless of the ultimate outcome, they would do everything in their power from now until the polls closed to distance themselves from their hard-won passage of a historic health care overhaul, the toughest financial regulations since the 1930s, and a stimulus package most economists now credit with preventing a second Great Depression.

"There's a great deal on the line, and we know it isn't going to be easy for us," said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), speaking from the steps of the Capitol. "But if we suffer defeat, we will do so knowing we cowered away from absolutely anything we produced that was even remotely progressive or valuable in any way."

"And we will keep cowering right up until Election Day," Reid continued. "From Maine to Hawaii, in big cities and small towns, we will collapse into a fetal position and refuse to take credit for our successes anywhere voters could conceivably be swayed by learning what we have achieved on their behalf."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) acknowledged the task would be difficult, but said Democrats would remain steadfast in permitting their opponents to deride the accomplishments of the $787 billion Recovery Act, even as the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reports that the 2009 measure has created millions of jobs.

Again, it's too bad it's just in the Onion.

Fox News today said that New England just may go back into a RED policy.

We been Blue for too many years and even the most liberal folks are complaining.  i  first Noticed this when the Gay businesses, health stores, hairdressers, artists, painters and jewelry designers, potters and small speciality shops began to close their doors.

It is not that the area is too poor to keep them in business, it is that those with the big bucks head for the big city's for fashion and design.

Quite a few of our long lasting restaurants are closing, every couple of months at the mall there is a turn over in the shops.

Our State Capital Concord has had a downtown that is deserted with blocks of empty stores.

Then the snow birds that close up their homes in Oct. and head for Florida for the winter, many less people to buy grocery's, clothing, heating oil or gas for their cars.

Town managers that try to run small towns in the same way they were run 50 years ago when keeping the town in the past are going bankrupt.

Never fear, the turn around in policy all ways upsets some of the die hard and on the other hand the progressives also.

The Libs have almost destroyed our fishing industry, our zoning laws run off anyone who pays taxes on land but cannot use that land as they see fit without paying up the butt to strangers to do so.

I wish that my fellow New Yorkers would realize that the Dems are poison, but Karin, Carl and I can do only so much!  At least Carl and I are going to get a good conservative as our House representative.  Maybe in 4 years they will wise up and send the Dems into permanent exile.

It is a start neighbor and I think all of us have poured time and money into the House races and rightly so...that is where the country`s purse strings are and where HCR can be defanged.
Thankfully we have Chris Gibson (after meeting and talking with him I believe he will soon have national prominence) starting to run away with the race.

With the city at the end of the Hudson it will always be tough to have anything but an occasional moderate Republican as Senator or Governor.
Not going to concede those races as I think they will be a lot closer then thought but have to be realistic.

Neighbor, I think that the term "Senator Gibson" should be brought up.  As in, run against Gilly in 2012, because this year is a special election--assuming that Joe DioGuardi loses.

I concede nothing until all votes are counted.  It is very frustrating to be in a stranglehold from the moonbats on Manhattan, but you've heard me bitch enough about it.  Nuff said.

It looks like NY23 is going to be neck and neck.  For some reason, we can't get decent polling.  All we get is Sienna, and they are laughably inaccurate.  The margin of error is 5.  Turnout is absolutely key in New York for all races.

I found the Onion article irritating, myself.  The way they're wording it, is that Hellcare and all of the crap were good things that should be paraded around.

Siena has their problems.  Lots of them.  They had Murphy up in NY-20 by 17, six weeks ago, then have Gibson up by 9 five weeks later.  I think that Gibson's win will be in the high teens.
