New Book Chronicles America’s Road to Fascism
Title Looks at Obama’s Third Way Politics
Imagine an economic policy that was a "Third Way" between traditional capitalism and socialism. To many American's this sounds much like what past "progressive" Presidents had in mind, and even Newsweek magazine highlighted "Obama’s Third Way" (Newsweek, November 17, 2008). But the "Third Way" also has been called a middle ground "between the anarchy of the liberal market economy and the strictures of the Bolshevik planned one."
That sounds really good, but it was Italy's Benito Mussolini who uttered those very words to describe his idea of fascism. In this 12-chapter book, writers Peter Suciu and John Kullman explore what fascism is, the history of the movement, what fascism is not, and then look at comparisons of how the United States has long been heading down the road to fascism, and now at breakneck speed under the current administration.
The book explores how fascism and Fascist movements grew during the 20th Century, looks at how Fascist symbolism (based on Roman origins) are present in government today, discusses why the so-called "skinheads" and "neo-Nazis" are not really Fascists, and offers stark comparisons between various Fascist leaders and President Obama.
As the United States offers regulations on health and fitness (such as New York City's new war against salty foods) striking comparisons are made to similar policies in Nazi Germany, as are similar efforts to have government run big business. After all, is the government’s mandate to GM to build hybrids really all that different from the Nazi's push to make a people's car (Volkswagen)?
The authors explore the established liberalized "10 steps to fascism" by Naomi Wolf, and compare how these very same steps are being used today. Who is the new enemy within? Could it just be anyone who dares offer dissent, something that only a few years ago was called the most patriot thing to do but now is practically labeled treasonous by the mainstream media? And what of the Fairness Doctrine that would attempt to silence the loyal opposition? These are among the topics covered in this book.
The Third Way further discusses how this new enemy within that threatens this Fascist movement, and which could just save America. Then it looks forward to the greater dangers of Islamic fascism in the 21st century.
