Racism is alive, well, and thriving in America

Edited on Thu Oct-21-10 06:55 PM by Cyrano
Anyone who thinks the Civil War ended in 1865 is brain dead. That war continued through the Civil Rights era of the 1960s and it hasn’t ended yet. It’s the bread and butter of the Republican Party. They call it their “Southern Strategy.” I call it pure evil. And the Republicans have managed to spread their "Southern Strategy" nationwide.

We have a (1/2) black man in the White House. The most recent troops on the front lines of bigotry are the teabaggers. They shout about taxes, social security, Medicare, “taking back America,” and much more. But don’t buy the crap they’re selling.

For the majority of them, they’re real problem is with what they call the “socialist, liberal, elitist, wine-sipping, Muslim, non-American black man” in the White House.

Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, Fox, and every other wingnut entity owned by big business, has been selling this crap for the past two years. And far too many imbeciles are buying it.

Understand this shit for what it is. It’s always about the wingnuts trying to gain and keep power, wealth and control. But this time around, they’ve been given what they consider to be a gift. Racism.

Anyone who doesn’t understand that this is the main ingredient in their bowl of poison either agrees with them, or just doesn’t “get it” and never will.

Accusations of racism,no evidence provided and then a declaration that if you don`t agree you are an enemy.

Who again are the fascists lurking DUmbasses?

You surely remember, sir, when Oscar shut up his cat in the bedroom, giving it no access to any sanitary facilities, and how Oscar raised the canopy on the bed in a hissy fit when the cat pissed on him.

That's when he got re-baptized "Oscar Wilde"--and for reference, Oscar Wilde like Cyrano, had a big honker.

For some reason, he shut his cat up in the bedroom with himself, and had no sanitary facilities for the poor cat, which some hours later felt a call of nature and had to answer it.

the large-proboscised primitive, feeling the moisture, leaped up out of bed, banging against the frilly canopy, and hopped around on one foot, cursing the poor cat, waving his ruffled sleeves in indignation, looking for a lace handkerchief to absorb the mess, sputtering out shrill expletives.

If one couldn't see Oscar Wilde in that performance, I have no idea what one could see.

And to top it off, Oscar Wilde is not a young man; he's about 20 years older than I had thought he was.

With the nominations for the TOP DUmmies [Primitives] OF 2010 coming up in about six weeks, I think it's handy to give "back stories" on interesting primitives.

My (horrible) experience on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange

Many moons ago, one of my first jobs was as a page on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange. Pages would all sit together on a bench until called, and then go around the floor of screaming maniacs, collect little pieces of paper, deliver them all to a central point and go back to sit on the bench.

I really had no idea what all of these shouting people were doing, but every time I walked through the floor, I felt like I was in the middle of a madhouse. The hundreds of people shrieking all at once raised my blood pressure, quickened my pulse and set my teeth on edge. I saw two people have heart attacks on the floor over a period of a few weeks.

But here’s what really bothered me. I didn’t see where anything of value was being produced. Both my father and mother worked at places that actually made things. And for the life of me, I couldn’t see what was being made (aside from money) by these people who seemed to be creating nothing more than an ear-shattering din of indistinguishable shouts.

One day I went out to lunch, walked a few blocks to the Staten Island ferry and got on. Staring out over New York harbor, I decided I wasn’t going back to work (except to change my clothes and leave). Although I had no concept of the business being conducted at the NYSE, I had reached the conclusion that there was something about it that was terribly wrong.

I had grown up in a world where people either made goods, sold goods, repaired goods, hauled trash, made electricity flow, drove people where they wanted to go, and so many other tasks that were immediately identifiable. And right or wrong, I reached the conclusion that the place in which I was working had nothing to do with the real world, or the lives of anyone I knew. Little did I know that the horde of screaming maniacs had it within their power to destroy the real world.

Today, I understand the purpose of the stock market. And you can call me a socialist, a communist, or any other name you can think of, but I have never bought a stock and I feel there is something intrinsically evil about the entire concept.

I know that many of you won’t agree with me, but my case rests on the fact that today, Wall Street has driven Main Street into the sewer. No one should have that much power over the vast majority of us.

What if clothing were banned?

Imagine what humanity would be like if we all had to walk around nude. Picture a Hitler, a Stalin, a Limbaugh, a Coulter, or a fundie bible beater spewing their venom while standing there stark naked. I just don't believe they could do it.

Yeah, I know. What about when it's cold? Given our technology, we could long ago have invented warm, transparent clothing.

So how about if we demand that all future political "debates" have to be held with the participants in their birthday suits?

I could be wrong, but this may possibly be the solution of how to attain peace on earth.

All replies welcome, but be prudent. Don't get yourself deleted by the moderators.

I'm still looking for the cat-pissing-on-Oscar-Wilde thread.

The cat-pissing-on-Oscar-Wilde thread isn't here; it must have dated from our old home, and got lost during the crash of '08.....and come to think of it, I had already re-christened him "Oscar Wilde" while we were at our old home; it's one of my older re-names.

EXACTLY! I never trust a man who I grip his palm and it feels like I'm shakin' a frikkin' wet wash rag! Ya know, I shake the hands of criminals and because of their grip, I trust them to show up when they're supposed to! I've yet to be let down when I hold them to their word by grippin' their hand!

Back in the day, it was a mans bond, the handshake! It however has gone the way of the Dodo thanx to girly men like the "Big Nosed" *****!!

I can't tell you the number of times in the past 10 years I have shook a man's hand and thought, cripes, "Toots" has a better grip than this asshole!

Lord, what in God's name has happened to us??????

I did a hellva lot of business on just a handshake or even less in my lifetime. Those old guys have mostly died out now. Now you got to have a lawyer and a 100 page contract.

I can't tell you the number of times in the past 10 years I have shook a man's hand and thought, cripes, "Toots" has a better grip than this asshole!

Lord, what in God's name has happened to us??????

I've taught my son to give a good firm handshake. It started kind of as a joke when he thought he was to big to give me(daddy) a hug and a kiss when I left home in the mornings. Well, 2 years ago we were at an air show and they invited people to come shake the hands of 4 ARMY helicopter pilots that had just put on a show. He had just turned 13 and was/is bashful/shy and had to make 2 attempts to get to shake their hands. One of the pilots was a female Major and I told him to be sure to shake her hand just like all the rest. She was first in line and she complimented him on his handshake with something like "Good Handshake". The last pilot was an older Colonel(I think) and where he had been doing the "shake-shake" turn you loose reach for another hand, he hung on to my sons handshake and pulled him aside to talk to him for a few seconds. Can't remember what was said but my son was grinning ear to ear when he came back to me.

Firm but not bone crushing and look them in the eye while doing it.
“The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

"America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within."  Stalin
