Homemade is best (it's easy). Many places use frozen steaks from a box.
For those that have lived in military housing.
Friend of mine who was raised in the Philippians met and married a US Service man.
My friend was a teacher, had 7 sisters and a father that lived on a farm that used water Buffalo to plow.
She lived in America and Military housing and the neighbors on both sides of her were not friendly, she was Asian, her husband Black.
She told me that there was not one week when she and family were not harased by the neighbors. Her Mother came from the island to visit her for a couple of weeks and darn if they were not reported to housing for having a guest.
Her mother was a tough old babe and did not back down. In her culture there is some kind of a fish dish that stinks to high heavens to outsiders but is beloved by that culture.
Mother began to prepare the fish with the native spices and place it on a BBQ in the back yard. My friends husband would run for the car and head for the Club on base as the smell caused his balls to shrink to peanut size.
Sort of like smelling salt cod cooked in milk for us Yankees.
Within an hour or less 6 people had called the housing office to complain of this awful smell.
Out came the housing authority to inspect the problem. RESULT--
My friend and her mother were cooking their food, this is what they ate to live. One cannot regulate what a person eats this is their culture.
BTW, a few years back at work we had some Temps from wherever and when their food went into the microwave at lunch the smell was of dirty diapers.
