Model Diane Tweedle found hanged after secret abortion
« on: October 21, 2010, 10:45:22 AM »
Quote
Diane Tweedle, who had appeared in a number of pop videos, was found hanging from a hairdryer cord in her bedroom.

She had been taking diet pills, which affected her sleep, the inquest heard. But the 24-year-old was a ‘bubbly person’ and ‘the life and soul of the party’, her mother, Debbie, said.

Miss Tweedle had been ‘excited’ at plans to visit her family in Bournemouth, her mother added. But she was found dead by her flatmate in Deptford, south London, on April 15 – the day before she was due to arrive.

One of several notes she left read: ‘I didn’t want to do it.’ The model’s boyfriend, Paul Dodd, told police she had an abortion two or three weeks earlier but was not ‘down about it’.

Her mother said she had no knowledge of an abortion. Six years ago, Miss Tweedle found her father’s body after he took his own life, her GP said.

Southwark coroner Doreen Lawrence recorded an open verdict, saying the model’s actions may have been a cry for help.

But , I thought all women that had abortions were happy and joyous to be rid of the burden?

Guilt from it maybe who knows what she was feeling still sad to end your own life like that

I hope she has the chance to meet her unborn child before the final judgement is made.

Her family history, i.e. her father's suicide, tends to indicate their were mental health issues deeper than remorse over the abortion involved, I have to say.

Sort of sounds like a 1 - 2 - 3 thing...finding her dad had to have pushed her, but then she found out she was pregnant (major stress, especially for a model, think how that would affect her body), then she aborts (major guilt for killing the baby, seriously only a minute number of women don't think pregnant=baby), then the stress of an upcoming visit (should I tell them, should I hide it.)  Having lived through a similar scenario without the father thing, I can totally vouch for the intense stress...(though I'm very thankful I made the opposite choice.)

Sad.

Whatever her regrets it need not have come to that.

I am Diane's sister and I would like to set the record straight. There was no abortion. If the reporter had actually listened to the inquest, she would have realised there was no medical record of such a thing. My family and I are very saddened that such a false (not to mention badly written) article was published. Once we get a copy of the post mortem report, The Metro will be retracting their story. Thankfully, The Mirror didn't need the proof and respectfully removed their article from the internet.

Seems like that's becoming all too common in the news industry... print now, ask questions later.

Sorry to hear about your sister.

Condolences.  As the story is wrong I'll lock the thread.
