Bob Guccione, founder of Penthouse magazine, widely recognized as having fired the first shot in the "Vulva Wars" against Playboy and one-time owner of "one of the biggest private houses in Manhattan," died yesterday at the age of 79 from throat cancer, which he had been battling for years—the NY Times notes that he "did not drink, smoke or use drugs." Guccione was born in Brooklyn, but was living in Texas at the time of his death.

I always thought the pets were sexier than the playmates.  for years, playboy never could really decide what it was about;  the chicks, social commentary, political analysis, or stereo equipment.  penthouse was always, ALWAYS about the girls.

um, I wish to state for the record that I totally missed the peeing thing. :uhsure:  my subscriptions changed from magazines like penthouse to national review  in my late 20's . . . or so.    :innocent:

maybe I shoulda checked in on more recent subject matter before I rallied to the support of a skin mag.  :rotf:
