Hello everyone -- long time no post!

I just wanted to let the community know that my weight loss journey is now officially halfway done. From a lifetime high of 519 lbs. I am now at 357, which puts me more than halfway to my ultimate goal of 200. Here's hoping that the second half of this undertaking will go as smoothly as the first!

If anyone has any questions or anything, please feel free to post them here and I will do my best to answer. The most important thing of all is that I hope someone might see this and come to understand that it's never too late to change, and that this lifestyle can help anybody regain their health, no matter how bad off they may think they are.

Hello again, nomikins!

Thanks for stopping by. The long and short of it is that things have been rather tough on us lately. Jeanette has been out of a job for a few months now, and has been jumping through seemingly endless hoops -- thanks, "Patriot" Act!! -- trying to get a new ID card (very long story) so she can even start looking for a new job.

My left foot and leg are feeling better, but the wounds are just refusing to heal completely. We keep doing what we're able to, and continue hoping for the best. As for exercise, I spend a lot more time on my feet, but the combination of summer heat and hip problems is really limiting me. Sometimes I find it as painful to swing my legs up into bed now as I did way back in the high 400s, so something is definitely not right with my hips. Even if getting my weight down only serves to slow or stop damage which has already occurred, then it's still worth it. I honestly thought I was going to be oversized scooter chair material way back when, like it was my destiny or something. I don't believe that at all now, but I still need to be very careful until my weight is a lot closer to normal.

I'd rather concentrate on the one biggest positive -- the weight release -- than go off into spiels about the negatives we're trying to contend with right now. That's probably another reason why I'm not posting a whole lot. As for the cyber-stalking cave of lunatics I've referred to previously, I don't care about them any more. They don't have any real power over me, and never really have when you get right down to it.

Hmmm.

One wonders who the "cyber-stalking cave of lunatics" are, to which the gigantic primitive is referring.

Anybody have any idea?

Okay now, why does poor Jeannette need a "new ID" to apply for jobs?

The gigantic primitive says it's a long story.

Well, we've got time to listen, so tell away.

I do have some ambitions and aspirations for when I reach my normal weight and can start getting out and about more easily, without having to worry about shoes or whatever rubbing my foot raw.

I've been doing some research here and there about what I would have to do in order to get into Jeff Novick's line of work. I would love nothing more than to work as a nutritional consultant for a doctor who believes in helping super-morbidly obese people without resorting to invasive surgery or dubious (at best) drugs. Barring that, any kind of nutritional work where I didn't have to toe a line of "conventional" *cough* "wisdom" *COUGH* would suit me to a T.

My before and after pictures would, by themselves, make one hell of a resounding resume! At least, that's my opinion.

Well, like I said the other day, this summer has been a royal kick in the jewels for the most part. Hopefully, Jeanette's money order and paperwork for a new birth certificate won't get sent back like her first ones did a month ago (after a 6 week wait) because the agency which promised over the phone that it was the correct department -- wasn't -- all because she was adopted by extended family. Once she has the birth certificate, she can then get a copy of our marriage certificate and then finally a new state ID card. Without that it's impossible to even get a temporary, day labor type position.

Then there's how ungodly hot it is in here during the peak of the summer. My energy was totally sapped, but despite that I did a better job of dropping pounds this year than last. My only real period of plateau was back in July and August, and even then I came out of it about 6 pounds lighter. I was also very depressed over the whole BP flustercluck, which didn't help matters. I didn't have any massive lapses into bad eating patterns, but my energy levels were in the gutter. I've finally managed to convince myself that it's not worth trying to carry the weight of the Gulf on my shoulders, as it were, so that's helped.

So all things considered, I think I'm a lot better adjusted -- both emotionally and physically -- than I've been in a long time. As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm also starting to think about what could potentially lie in store for me when this whole process is over and my body is adequately healed. Back when I started this journey all I wanted to do was see any progress at all. I had a lot of self-doubt that I'd ever even make it this far, and quelling that fear took a lot of will. I think that if I could help just one other person who is as far "around the bend" as I was at 519 lbs., or even more so, to get their health and vitality back, then I would be very happy.

If this doesn't work, then Jeanette will have no choice other than to have her mom (actually an aunt) do it for her. And that sucks because she already sent $20 to cover the fees for this second try through whatever agency up in Illinois.

Long gone are the days when a Social Security card and bill stub showing proof of residence could get you an ID card or license.

Because all us common folk are really nothing but latent "domestic terra-ists," don't'cha know?

I'm pleased to report that another 3 lbs. came off last week! And also, I will be trying to use the bike regularly again now that it's not a furnace in here most of the day. Maybe it will help my hips not to hurt as much, but if the problem worsens even a little I'll have to be careful.

At this rate, it looks like I'll be well out of the 300s by my 42nd birthday in March. I can barely even remember the last time I was below that, other than that it was some extreme depression at the time which drove me to eat myself out of the 2's and into the 3's.

Well, damn.

It's looking good for the gigantic primitive.

But why's the gigantic primitive so worried about Jeanette finding a job, when that's the gigantic primitive's job, to get a job?

Good for him!  I hope his wounds do heal up.

I can't imagine getting to that size and won't pretend to understand how somebody does that.  Hope I never do.  But it can only be good news for him, his doctor, the healthcare industry, my part of subsidizing his healthcare costs, his wife's life (and many more) that he's getting his weight down.

Kirk was going nowhere until Jeannette showed up here and CCers politely and compassionately embraced her and suggested what needed to happen.
Yes,it wasn`t all tea and crumpets but for the most part was genuine concern and a desire for him to get his life back politics notwithstanding.

Since then he has lost almost 200 lbs and while a little of bit of gratitude would be nice it isn`t needed,we did what was right and that is what matters.

Hiring him as a nutritional consultant would be like hiring Keith Richards as a substance abuse consultant.

What?  Too lazy to request a new ID card through the DMV's website or just go to the DMV offices in Las Vegas?  Do you want me to give you a list of all the locations and hours?

That guy is so damn lazy.

And he is the LAST person I would take nutritional advice from.

It's been 80 degrees for almost two weeks now.  MAN UP!  Grow some balls and go outside.  I can pay your $20 annual fee for the national parks so you can hiking 365 days.

NO, it's because Nevada doesn't want a bunch of f-ing ILLEGAL immigrants getting their hands on state ID cards or driver's licenses.

No idea why he would say that, his politics are kooky but I think we were very supportive of his weight loss here.

Yeah, I've noticed that in libs.  If you disagree with them on any point they take it as a rejection of them as a whole and can't get past that.

The Cave should be praised for his recent gains in losses. Kirk had hit the plateau and bounced hard when he hit. He'd started gaining again when he wandered by here. The advise to quit trying to fool everyone, including himself that he was given here was the kick in the pants he needed to get going again in the right direction.

Now if he'd just take Franks well meaning advise to get a job...

I dunno why the gigantic primitive's not working already.

He'd make a great usher at the movie theatre.

I think it'd be a good idea for Jeanette to start thumbing through the "big and tall men" catalogue to find him an usher's uniform.

Hey it's Vegas. He could get a job as a limo driver. Snazzy uniform, good tips and a way to get out in the world and still stay air conditioned. If he works hard and applies himself he could buy his way into or start his own company. The world is his oyster, all he needs to do is get off his big/shrinking ass, decide what he wants to be when he grows up and do something.

Well, here's my thinking, and if there's anything wrong with it, feel free to illuminate.

In case a movie theatre ushering job doesn't work out, that usher's uniform with the little round cap would be ideal for working as a bellboy in a hotel.  People tip hotel bellboys good, too.

A theatre usher however also carries a flashlight; I dunno what good the flashlight would have in the hospitality business, but that's a tool useful anywhere; the gigantic primitive could just leave it in the tool drawer at home, for emergencies there.

You and I, sir, think along the same lines.  I hadn't thought of a limousine driver, but I had thought of something similar; the gigantic primitive could get a job driving one of the "conveyances" for a funeral home.

Shoot, it's Vegas.  If he can manage to be intimidating, I could probably find him a job in a few hours so long as he isn't picky about legal employment.

I presume the still-gigantic primitive is so unable to accept any sort of personal responsibility for his life, he's choosing to try and blame an oil spill for his unwillingness to get up off his considerable ass???
